Ah Cheng Laksa, with its origins from a small town ( Simpang Empat ) in Alor Star, Kedah, has been in Klang Valley for a while now ( since 2003 ) with many outlets opened in various shopping malls. They even won the Star People’s Food Awards for Best Asam Laksa in 2014.
Seafood Aglio Olio (RM 22) One of the must to have here is the Seafood Aglio Olio. The perfectly tossed Linguine is served with the generous shrimps, garlic, squids as well as chili and parsley. The dish comes simply impressive where they are cooked al-dente and comes with the light kick of spiciness in it.
We were bowled over by this bowl of fish head noodles. The soupy delight came to us in a milky anchovy, flavoured with Chinese cooking wine and lightly deep-fried battered pieces of fish. No, not really; there was this generous portion of fish fillet accompanied with several pieces of the smaller portions in the bowl. I have requested for more flesh and not fish heads, so we have this yummy piece of fillet for my son to enjoy without any bones. Generous amounts of coriander leaves, tofu, fried shallots, tomato, lettuce, preserved mustard and ginger lend flavour to the broth that has mee hoon in it. The generous use of ingredients offers a burst of flavours. For me, this bowl is worth every single cent you paid for it or even more. So far, this is my first encounter getting to eat such a delicious bowl of fish head noodles at such a cheap price for a chock-full of ingredients for RM 6.50 only! So cheap you can't find anywhere else and definitely in the city centre like in Bukit Bintang area where the rent is expensive.
Definitely very nice Wan Ton Mee, both the ChaSiew, Roasted Pork, as well as the Prawn WonTon were nice
Fish ball noodle or Yee Mee at $7.50, Pan Mee at $8, and Curry Mee at $8.50; all perhaps recently priced for food at the Golden Triangle of KL.
The Fried Rice is generally OK, it came with 5 pieces of Roasted Pork, and a few tiny pieces of Salted Fish
To be honest, the food is really economical where you have no worries about the price where it cost below RM 10 (most of the dish and same goes to other stalls). Is really filling where me and Mr Chooi have no choice but to 'dabao' (take away) our leftovers as the portion is very big (but the PIC says is normal portion from them 0.0). So yeah.. this is my rate for this: Foods => 8/10 (other than is affordable and yummy, is a must try food is all I can say) Service => 8/10 (they do explain what we are having when we ask what's this and that on our plate) Environment => 7/10 (it was still okay when I visited here during weekend. But just can't imagine during lunch hour on weekdays 0.0)
