We took the 7PM bus from Xinyuan 新源 and reach Urumqi 乌鲁木齐 at 11.30AM (a 16 hours journey). Tired but not unbearable.
A lady at the bus station ask if we would like to go to the airport, and say it would cost RMB 50. I thought it is the total cost, but she meant RMB 50 per person, so I might have wrongly agreed to a bad deal. It's an empty van, so it's probably cheaper if a few people share the van.
Our flight is 2.55PM and we reach ChengDu 成都 at 6PM. We make a wrong decision by listening to a local chap to bring us to town for RMB 80 as we couldn't see any taxi in sight. A taxi should be RMB 60+, and the driver still want to wait for 4 passengers before departing.
ChengDu 成都 is a gloomy city, maybe not due to the haste, as it only have sunny days 1/3 of the year. A big city she is, but not a charming one. We stay at Rujia 如家 for less than 150 per night at Yusha Road 玉沙路, clean and cheap with a few nearby restaurants. It's not a very central location for walking, but taxi is easily accessible.
We take a cab to Jinli 锦里 and ask the taxi driver to drop us at a dinner spot, and he drop us at Suadu 耍都. There are plenty of BBQ and steamboat options, and we settle for a place which sell small steam lobster (RMB 100) and BBQ Pork Rib 排骨 pot. The little lobster isn't very meaty and neither very good (we tasted better ones in Yangshuo years ago). The pork rib is nice, but too little meat.

ChengDu Taxi starts at RMB 8 (RMB 9 at night) for less than 2KM of travel, with additional RMB 2 for every subsequent KM. Yusha Road to Chunxi Road is less than 2KM. We took taxi 3 times, one time it cost RMB 9, while the other 2 times it cost RMB 16-18. It's either the taxi driver deliberately took a further path, or they do so to avoid traffic. ChengDu taxi driver does drive very fast.
