Overall, both the black pepper and the fried chicken were not too bad. A returning trip for other items in the menu can be done too.
Hidden within NEWest is Birdfolks, a new spot that's especially proud of their fried chicken and rice bowls.
Birdfolks serves up delicious American-inspired fried chicken with an Asian twist.
Enjoy good food and coffee in Burnt Cones of Sunset Way
Their Ube or Purple Yam ice cream was really nice, carrying a nice sweetness and the fragrance of the yam, with some creaminess and thickness in texture and flavour, a bit like orh nee. Good stuff.
The unique concept of this ice cream cafe, along with friendly staff, good food, and dessert got me vowing to return.
I find that the set meal can be made a better offer with a drink included. Nevertheless, the set meal is still value for money.
The dessert of the day was a scoop of ice-cream with a dollop of cream. Simple but good enough for a simple lunch costing us a total of $26.20 (including service charge).
Buttercake n Cream, is definitely somewhere I would recommend if you're hunting for cafes in West Singapore.
Dessert was an olive oil cake flavoured with citrus and rosemary. Not bad. Rather small though. Nice with the cream.
At Summer Hill, the Roasted Chicken ($25 for half, $45 for whole) is presented in a more modest, down-to-earth manner, but still absolutely scrumptious.
It is an ok-good meal but it isnβt as mindblowing as what others have reported and I wonβt travel more than 20 minutes for it.
Soon Lee Porridge specializes in Hainanese porridge and offers just three options on their menu. Hainanese porridge is often grainier and thicker than Cantonese or Teochew porridge.
Soon Lee Porridge serves up tasty bowls of porridge at wallet-friendly prices, and the long queues and waiting times at any time of the day are a testament to that.
We tried a bowl of porridge without the egg, and I must say that it had more flavour.

Island Penang Kitchen serves a decent bowl of Penang Assam Laksa ($5) too. It has a nice balance of sour, sweet and spicy, topped with onions, cucumbers, pineapple and greens I also applauded the effort of using the authentic type of noodle served in Penang and not those thick beehoon. My only disappointment was that I could not find much minced fish in the assam laksa, another characteristic of assam laka.
deepfried big intestines done very well..tasty
The wah tan hor fun was really solid β silky smooth with wok hei, thick gravy, nice eggy fragrance and fresh accompanying ingredients like prawns and sliced fish.
The expansive menu means that you have to return multiple times to try all of Hoy Yongβs one-of-a-kind dishes!
Service was impeccable and the food standard was better than average. The experience in Chin Huat Live Seafood certainly gave every one of us a good impression.
Chin Huat Live Seafood ιεζ΄»ζ΅·ι² is the first live seafood restaurant in Singapore. According to its website, this took place in 1995 when the restaurant allowed diners to select their catch of choice directly from the tank
Tried their coconut pudding which was more of a coconut milk jelly. Not bad but I prefer the clearer variety made with just the juice like the one at Ping's.
Overall, Joo Chiat Prawn Mee at Ayer Rajah Food Centre is definitely worth a try for the westies, especially if you like your prawn noodles to be sweeter.
This stall is a worthy option for lunch if you happen to be here.
I am sure fans of Joo Chiat Prawn Mee would be overjoyed to know that they are back!
More fine dining than bistro. Ingredients fresh and handled well, although I though the flavours of the chicken cordon bleu were a bit too subtle for my less refined palate.
W39 Bistro Foodpanda Delivery review of Nyonya mee siam and Nasi Lemak with Ayam Masak Merah, with pictures of food and restaurant
Overall, we were glad to have discovered the W39 Bistro & Bakery. It is a neighbourhood eatery we would be happy to drop by again when we are in the West Coast / Pandan Loop areas.
Lee Taiwanese is hidden among the estate of Faber Drive and serving authentic Taiwanese Food similar to the taste of Miao Kou Night Market in Taiwan.

The Bonito Chashu Ramen was a bit too light and subtle for me, without any flavours jumping out. Will probably have to get the Tonkotsu next time out.
En Ramen serving tasty and pocket friendly ramen in the neighbourhood
I didn't dislike it but I did feel it had too much sugar.
All in all the food was pretty decent but the price leans towards the steep side.
Meat platters were the rage right before COVID-19 struck us early this year and I always wonder if itβs really worth the deal; i.e. would it...
Not bad. The chicken was really well grilled β tender, savoury and smoky with a bit of chao ta. The onsen egg was of good standard too. It seems they are serious about their grills, although the bowl tasted just a bit too healthy for me.
The quality of meat is definitely noteworthy, allowing for decadent and flavourful mains.
At average $2 a piece, they cost a bit more but I feel they are worth the slight price premium.
They are really specialised. The only food on the One Kueh at a Time menu are soon kuehs β in eight flavours. For drinks β you can choose between tea and coffee. It is a good place to go for indecisive people.
Very nice and refined soon kueh, in an industrial building at Pandan Loop. The skin was thin and gelatinous, and the filling crisp and juicy, as well as nicely flavoured.
Daisyβs Dream Kitchen Review: Peranakan Restaurant in Temasek Club Bukit Timah Singapore
Owned by the mother of the famous Dim Sum Dolly, Selena Tan, we heard about this hidden gem in the West serving home-styled Peranakan dishes and simply had to try.
Really nice smoked buttermilk waffles, fluffy inside and crispy outside, and the smokiness infused into the waffles. The sandalwood smoke at serving was not just a show.
After I covered the opening of Taiwanese-style Simple Cafe , offering pastries and bakes in a quiet, minimalist space at West Coast, it appears quite a number of new eateries have come up at that location since.
For decent Thai Food, I find that Nana Thai portion is big and good enough. You also get to expiernce that the servers and staff are communicating in Thai Language.
Food wise, I thought it was rather average. However the price point is reasonable cheap. By the way, the restaurant is 24 hours!
STR TAO Taiwan Cuisine is a hidden gem residing in the industrial estates in Jurong East. Discovered this as I was deciding on where to go for lunch. lol
This hidden gem among the industrial estate is definitely worth highlighting especially for those who are craving Taiwanese food.
The braised pork rice boasted superbly fatty and savoury pork belly, with a strong taste of cinnamon and star anise ε «θ§. The sauce was savoury and flavourful, while the chilli was the dry fragrant type made from hae bi. The deep fried sweet potato with plum seasoning was crispy outside, soft inside, and sweet with a nice sour plum powder counterpoint.
Japanese Fusion Mee Pok to try.
All the pork ingredients, including the minced and sliced pork, pork ball and cha shu, were fresh, but the flavours I felt were a bit too muted and sweeet, both for the miso and shoyu flavours. I came by during lunch once, and was informed that the wait was 1.5 hours. After eating this, I seriously wonder why.
