Sous vide-cooked spring chicken RM65 -succulent and locked with moist. A dish that children and adults alike will love. Dressed in cepe mushroom reduction sauce, comes with a side of preserved red cabbage. Garlic potato puree is a little too creamy to us, but if you love real buttery, melt-in-the-mouth food, this could be your favourite.

Our top pick goes to the moist, braised-till-tender beef brisket stuffed within fluffy steamed pao. Generous cut of meat too! Summerkid personally enjoyed the Kim.Chi.Chicken. Mildly spicy, with sharp flavours of kimchi cut through in between crunchy, juicy bites of fried chicken chunks.

Soup is pack with flavour, you can taste the rice wine, heat from the ginger, slightly fragrant from soy sauce, sweetness from the clamp. It is indeed a satisyfying bowl for your lunch. It would taste even better if it is on rainy day as a sip of the soup could keep your tummy warm.

The Char Kuey Teow was really good. I can understand why many food bloggers rated Lai Foong to have one of the Top 10 Fried Kuey Teow in downtown KL. The noodles were well cooked and tasty, came accompanied with egg + cockles + fishcakes + Chinese sausages + lard + prawns + taugeh. Here, when you order LARGE, you’d get LARGE, Lots of noodles. Verdict: A solid bowl of beef noodles, and I can see why people have been flocking to the place for decades. It’s hearty, it’s comforting, and it’s substantial. Most impressive were the beef balls, which were so springy you can practically use them as ping pong balls – not a trace of tendon or whatnot left. The noodles were al dente and slathered in the savoury meat sauce.

We ordered Beef Mix Noodles (牛杂肉丸) RM10.00 that serves with a bowl of rice noodles (grounded beef as toppings) and a bowl of soup with assorted beef parts in it. The beef was tender and juicy, soup or broth was clear yet very rich in taste, overall taste like having a bowl of Bakso (Indonesian Beef Noodles) instead of the Pho Bo (Vietnamese Beef Noodles) that dashes some extra leaves and limes as flavouring.

Taste-wise, Mohd Yaseen Penang Nasi Kandar was a disappointment and nothing memorable. Though unique, the Ayam Madu was coated with lots of cancerous red colouring and the curries were spicy without in dept flavours. The Ice Chocolate with Coconut Milk is apparently a crowd favorite, hence why I decided to give it a try. It was something different. With every sip you’d taste, the taste of chocolate will hit you first. then the taste of coconut and it ends with the taste of slight bitterness from the small bits of dark chocolate scattered around. If you are the kind of person who liked your chocolate drink thick, you most probably would not enjoy this drink as much as due to the use of coconut milk, it is just a tad lighter, waterier than the usual. However, if you fancy a chocolate drink with a twist, do consider this combination. It is different, refreshing and makes for a good drink to quench your thirst. It was not too sweet, it had just the right amount. I most probably would still stick to the regular chocolate with cows milk but if I fancy something a lil different – I’d go for this.

The Hokkien Mee was drier than usual (their signature style), pleasantly aromatic with a subtle saltiness. It derived most of the flavor from the pork meat, offal and prawns that went into frying the noodle as well. We tried two versions, one offal and the other without, and the one with offal was noticeably tastier. Overall, the Hokkien Mee was alright, not great but definitely better than what Kim Lian Kee churns out – by a mile.

Aragan Yokocho is HUGE. It’s touted as the first and the largest authentic Japanese restaurant in Asia with approximately 18,848 sq ft. Holy moly! I heard they’re planning to open a few more branches this year. I wish they would open in Ipoh. When I first entered the place, I was a bit overwhelmed. I did not expect it to be that large. I nearly got lost. You don’t see this from the outside because it looks like a normal-sized restaurant but oh no. There’s more inside. It’s like exploring a cave.

Their Sambal Fish was so delicious. It was truly one of the best that I have tasted. Been so long that I had food this good. Truly miss these places as it has been so long. The fish was slightly on the spicy side and came with some thick gravy. 10/10 is my rating for this. Similarly, their Fish Roe was another one that won my heart. Absolutely delicious stuff and I would rate it at 9/10.

Verdict? Never go to Kudu during Ramadhan month. The chicken is extremely hard - presumably from reheating the food due to low demand during Ramadhan month. Oh the chicken is rock hard I assure you can kill someone by throwing at them. The okra is clearly undercooked it wouldn't break apart when you bite it! Another colleague ordered the chicken drumstick, it is so small like which is as big as the Eclipse mint box! So pathetic.

Lamb lovers must try the Rack of Sambal Crusted Lamb Loins @ RM34 in the tapas section. We were delighted with the generous portion and you can see that the lamb loins are given in thick juicy cuts. The accompanying sambal was great too and you can taste the dried shrimp used in it.

Michelin starred or not, I applaud the guts of Chef Li putting modern sin cuisine on the table. It is not easy getting creative with food that we Singaporeans have known all our lives to be cheap, affordable and tasty.

Cucur Udang (RM9.90 from the lunch menu) A balanced mix of shrimp and paste made for the perfect tenderness and crunchiness in any bite. Sweet and spicy homemade chilli sauce added an extra oomph to the delicious bite-sized awesomeness. Unconventional looking satays that actually taste good. What I adore about the dish was not the way it looks whatsoever, but rather the quality of the meat they used in each stick! Instead of throwing in fats every now and then to make up a stick of satay, they used only the flesh, all of which was nicely marinated, and then grilled to golden perfection.

Reasons to visit Luce Osteria: you can’t go wrong ordering just about anything here but the three dishes that will last in happy dreams for weeks to come are the swordfish – Filetto Di Pesce Spada, gnocchi – Chicche Della Nonna Alla Sorrentina and risotto – Risotto ai Funghi Porcini. One of the few Italian restaurants in KL to serve pork. Pleasant setting with multiple dining areas. Please try the chef’s Zabaione – this will make him very happy and honour his nonna in the process.

Likes: Quite good dimsum for Halal standards. Some non-pork dishes in general are authentic. Nice staffs. Dislikes: Manager is really rude (the one with the huge hair like bird's nest), luckily her staffs are nice. I always avoid asking her to get the orders as she is really rude, and I notice she is only nice to men and slam plates when its a bunch of ladies. It's too obvious that everytime I visit, I will not want her to serve us at all.
