走入室內，發覺餐廳的面積真的不大。右邊兩張小圓形雲石餐桌相互依偎地靠向白色的右牆，還把牆角的精緻桌燈給遮掩了半邊。餐廳左邊則毫無規則地擺著又大又小的圓形餐桌。連同門外的三張餐桌，Ivy's Nyonya Cuisine大概只有不到十個餐座。朱紅色的墻面畫有攀岩植物狀的圖紋，還有一些鑲在鏡框中的圖畫作點綴。由天花板垂吊下來的鳥籠吊燈，甚有美感，可說是店裡最美的擺設了。對著室內用餐區域的小窗口，即是餐廳的櫃檯。在這旁邊，還有一條通往洗手間的小走廊，到處擺滿雜物。顯然的，餐廳的簡約裝潢從不打算譁眾取寵，反而毫無掩飾地保留了家的原貌，飄散著一股親切的味道。

The Char Koay Teow may not look much different from the others, but it was really delicious, fragrantly fried with lots of “wok-hei” flavour! We suspected the use of duck egg made the delectable plate even more fragrant. It didn’t leave a very greasy feel too. Much better than the one we had from an unknown stall in Pulau Tikus the previous day!

The place was in in full swing on Sunday morning circa 10.00am and we were lucky to secure the last table or else we might need to wait table for hours according to Ken. Normally I’m not a fan of pork chops as the ones I’ve had previously have all turned out too dry for my liking. Surprisingly, Naughty Nuri’s Grilled Pork Chops begged to differ. The juicy cut of meat (sourced very carefully with just the right amount of fat vs lean meat) was lightly seasoned with salt and pepper and grilled to perfection. The meat was succulent and even better when eaten together with that layer of melt-in-your mouth fat.

While Great Delight Kitchen (悦为食) may operate like an ordinary restaurant, it actually runs on a business model like Private Kitchen. Customization of menu can be arranged with prior notice- simply inform the proprietor on the budget and they are able to customize the menu accordingly. The server proudly shared with us that the existing Teo Chew-influenced menu only covers 5% of what the restaurant could actually offer; as long as you can name it, they can cook it. Tables are limited and with its strong customer base, it is highly recommended that you make advance booking before visiting the place (we visited 3 times without booking and were turned down). The damage for this meal was slightly over RM 100 (for 3 pax), not exactly a cheap meal but we were pleased with the quality.

oh do you know that the jelly is made in the coconut itself? unlike how we make our konnyaku jelly where we pour the mixture into moulds and let them chill and set. here at Joez Coconut, the coconut (outer husk removed) is first roasted in the oven and then chilled in cooler room. and that’s how the jelly formed from within! ingenius innit? no addictive or artificial chemical is added so the coconut bought must be kept in refrigerator and is best to consume within 3 days.

Though initially the price tag (RM 68) may give you a surprise but it is worth the value - it comes with half free-range chicken. Even though smaller in size, the free-range chicken meat was so tender and it absorbed the essence from the soup, giving a great level of satisfaction. Most ingredients are home-made and they are not a big supporter over processed food either. The observant would notice their sleek stone pot, specially designed to suit the theme. A Hot Pot restaurant with heavy Cantonese-roots it seems; but as far as quality and service are concerned, I'd definitely love to revisit.

Next, KayaButter love its braised eggs, very well marinated. You can add extra ingredients as you like such as the chicken legs, braised eggs, meats and internal organs. Overall, De Secret Garden is a unique place to have a private dining experience with your closed ones. Since there is no menu from the restaurant, it gives you the unexpected rather than the expected, and that’s what makes the dining experience unique and exciting. The maximum allocation for De Secret Kitchen is 18-20 pax upon reservation only. Dinner starts from 6pm till midnight. Currently, it is priced at RM188 per pax, which is considered very reasonable for private dining. Menu will be seasonal and you can state your preference in advance. The only drawback for this place is the difficulty to get parking and the place could be easily missed since it is so private and “hidden”.

We were served a 8-course dinner for RM 188/pax that night. Please bear in mind that the menu will be different everyday as Chef Joe prepare the dishes based on the fresh ingredients he managed to procure during that day.

Asked where to get the best and healthiest buns and you'll get a definitel reply, Continenal Bakery @ Jalan Nagor, Georgetown, Penang. This bakery had been in business for a very long time and their 'healthy' bread can rival even Adventist Bakery (famous for their '7-grains sprouted bread' or '3-seeds sprouted bread')!

我们一走进店里，可以看到店里的人潮拥挤，闻到弥漫在空气中的面包香味，我最喜欢这样的味道。新鲜出炉的面包摆在店的中央。这些年来，每一次来Continental Bakery看到的人潮都是这样多，有些人说要买就要当早起的鸟儿。

Their Mee Sua Koh was fit for the time, the consistency was great and the flavor was alright. But if we could nitpick, we would prefer it to have a little bite... perhaps some Fish Balls or Prawns would be suffice. Mee Sua Koh 鱼鳔面线糊 (Rm 13)

We ended the night with a triple distilled single malt scotch whisky which was matured over 12 years. Served in a tulip shaped whisky glass which concentrates the aroma of the whisky to our noses (& enhancing the overall tasting experience). If you prefer whisky on the rocks, ice balls are used instead of normal ice cubes to make sure the ice doesn’t melt too fast and dilute the taste of the whisky.
