Simply drizzle some dark soy sauce, give it a good mix, and savor the delightful medley.
The possible reason for such a drop in the standard probably has to do with the departure of their head chef.
The claypot rice was very nice and fragrant, with the fragrance coming from the generous and varied ingredients that came with it, including chicken, various types of sausages, waxed meat and salted fish. The taste was savoury, full, layered and smoky. The only thing lacking was the charred rice crisp at the bottom of the pot. Otherwise a very good claypot rice served in comfy surroundings. The 40 minute wait was a bit long, but it seems you can call ahead to order.
The star here is still the claypot rice. I am glad that the restaurant continues to cook their claypot rice over charcoal fire.
Geylang Claypot Rice is definitely one of my favourites! Call in advance to reserve a table, and to ensure that your rice will be ready when you arrive.
The rice was fragrant and moderately soft, without that greasy feeling.
Overall, our claypot rice dinner at the new Lorong 33 Geylang Claypot Rice restaurant in Beach Road was nice.
