A couple of months ago, I wrote about Ramen Seirock-Ya, an up-and-coming halal ramen chain that specialises in toripaitan (chicken ramen) – and how it might just be the best halal ramen that I’ve tasted. Well, my opinion hasn’t changed – but this time, I’ve made a vlog about it. And in Malay, no less!

The noodles are good – well cooked, al dente and springy – but the broth is the real star here. After being boiled for hours, the flavour of the meat is condensed into the lip-smacking broth, and the taste is further accentuated by fried shallots and spring onions. Despite the amount of oil swimming on the surface, it does not taste greasy at all.

Putien’s dishes can be expensive, but they are worth the splurge once in awhile. I especially love the bian rou soup, and can see myself coming back often just to have a bowl of hearty, comforting soup.

I really enjoyed the dishes from Putien, and wouldn’t mind ordering again since there are many different items I’ve yet to try on the menu. Some interesting ones include Putien Lor Mee (braised noodles), Deep Fried Pork Trotters with Salt & Pepper, Ca Fen (meesua, noodles and bihoon mix), and Sweet & Sour Pork with Lychees.

Rice is a staple in Chinese cuisine, and the cheese, is, of course, a very Western ingredient. The Portuguese sauce, which is a thick creamy sauce with curry powder and coconut cream, is from Macanese cuisine. Despite all the seemingly different ingredients/styles, they blend together surprisingly well to create a harmonious dish that is hearty and delicious. The cheese gives it a gooey texture, while the sauce ensures that the dish is not dry.

This is the kind of service I commonly get from mamak shops and also kopitiams namely Old Town and Kluang. They just want me to go to the cashier's counter. I wonder if this is their modus operandi or just plain bad service!

Noodles were silky with a slight bite, but can be slurped easily. Chopped parsley added a hint of fragrance. Bokchoy was also thick and fat. Now I know why their outlets are so popular! Food: 9/10! Ambience: No frills, 7/10. Not for lounging around coz the shop is always busy (especially on weekends) and waiters will be eyeing like a hawk to clear your table. Service: 7/10 Price: RM10+

I know it’s super unhealthy (which is why you should eat this once in a blue moon, or for celebrations!), but I highly recommend getting the Mozzarella Bacon. The cheese sticks to the pan, so I suggest grilling one side of the bacon first before putting the topping on the other side, so you get nice, crispy edges and a gooey centre. Speaking of which, I like my bacon to be chewy rather than crispy, which the Hubs deems blasphemous. How do you like your bacon?

Supreme Pork (Family Set) came with thinly sliced pork, bacon, chicken, shrimp, assorted hotpot goodies like meatballs, crab meat sticks and tofu, butterfish slices, shrimp, squid, fish paste noodles, udon and vegetables.

The food in general is good and the steamed seafood hotpot is a bit pricey. If you are not a big fan of the seafood, you can order other food without the steamed seafood hotpot and the food prices here will be reasonable. Siong Tong Gai IOI Puchong Mall is worth to visit, just order what you think you prefer and be there early to avoid the queue.

Happy! Ricebox Set - XXL Crispy Chicken, smooth cold tofu and diced century egg, with my choice of drink, Soya Milk. I really love XXL Crispy Chicken so much! It's delicious because it is very soft-golden crispy!

I ordered their signature beef bowl aka Spicy Ontama Gyudon, which came with a generous serving of thinly sliced beef over rice. For its price, the beef quality was good, although I don’t know where ‘spicy’ came in because it had zero spiciness. Nice ratio of onions. The onsen egg was served separately. Added on a ‘set’ with a side of chicken gyoza, miso soup and tea, for mum, coz she eats like a bird.

Moo had the Lemongrass Chicken Chop Rice, which came with a small side of salad and pickled vegetables. Portions were generous: a huge mound or rice with a thick slab of chicken thigh. The chicken tasted fresh and was tender and juicy, but sadly, it was overpowered by the sweetness of the lemongrass sauce and became quite cloying to eat after the first few bites.
