We could not keep away from ordering the Chicken Karaage Bao Burger. The pillowy bao had a lovely combination – packed with juicy chicken karaage with airy crisp coating, salty punch of mentaiyaki and sharp flavors of home pickled kyuri. Accompanying chili paste provides a spicy kick to the bao however we recommend to enjoy simply on its own!

The best part of this stall is the owner allow you to top char koay teow with Clayfish (little lobster) or mantis prawns. Even the fried rice can be top with king crab meats. The crispy mantis prawns given are very generous in portion where they convered the whole char koay teow. This goes the same as the fried rice that each mouth are packed with king crab meats. For those that love seafood with char koay teow or fried rice, this is the stall that you should not missed out.

For wellness enthusiasts or vegans, finding a cafe in Penang offering vegan goodness has become increasingly easy with the opening of several outlets recently. Wholey Wonder Cafe on Jalan Gurdwara in George Town, Penang is a well known vegan cafe. Openings its doors in late 2016, the cafe is delightfully cozy with several styles of seating, including swing seats suspended from the ceiling. The decor is uniquely done up, with Spanish tiles and exposed walls. The cafe is a one-stop shop for all things healthy, with clever combinations of plant-based whole foods and a studio space for yoga upstairs.

Once an anomaly in Penang, vegetarians can now find aplenty of options in town. Nestled in the artsy space of Hin Bus Depot, Wholey Wonder is an excellent place for vegetarians and vegan. The menu is completely plant-based and the dishes are designed to appeal all palates. Options range from Pizza, Pies to home-made pastries; and the prices are well-commensurate with generous serving portion. The first floor is a space dedicated for Yoga classes and ground floor is where cafe located. Wholey Wonder has a nice relaxed atmosphere with vines crawling on the rustic walls, swings in front of the coffee bar and calming-soft background music; the place is not only good for a casual meal but over a cup of Joe as well.

Pitt Street Koay Teow Thng is one of the famous Koay Teow Thng in Penang that has been around for 60years. The original location of this Koay Teow Thng was at Pitt Street. It was moved to the new location at Carnarvon Street a few years back. One of the Specialists of this shop is the fish balls that are made of Eel Fish and the fish balls are homemade. Pitt Street Koay Teow Thng also selling Char Koay Teow now and the taste is promising too.

Koay Teow Th'ng is flat rice noodles, served in soup. It is topped with their homemade Eel Fishballs, pork meat that has been minced and flattened, and we were surprised to find some golden deep-fried Pork Lards in the bowl as well. The noodles were silky smooth, every ingredient is in perfect harmony. The Eel fishball though has a slightly different texture than the usual fishball bounciness, we can taste the delicate sweetness of the eel itself. It is definitely a hearty bowl of delicious Koay Teow Th'ng!

Polo Bun with Butter (菠萝油) – RM4.50, a very typical Hong Kong pastry. The top of the bun was covered with slightly sweet crust while the inner of the bun was stuffed with a piece of creamy butter. In Penang, it is so difficult to get Polo Butter Bun. That is the reason I came to this cafe to try out the bun. It is in fact one of their best-sellers and usually sold out by noon. The top crust was so nice and the bun was soft and warm. Having it with soft and creamy butter was simply satisfying. This bun is perfect when it is served warm.

The coffee spaghetti was made with creamy coffee sauce and chorizo pork sausage. 🍝 It tasted surprisingly good. I originally expected this to be more of a novelty dish but it was rich and delicious, with an aftertaste of roasted coffee beans and pepper
