[Pork-free] Saturdays are for partying, and Sundays are for lazing. For coffee, kombuchas, and coney dogs – check out Lazy Sunday Club at MAHSA Avenue.
Named Three Guys coz of the three partners helming the cafe, this pseudo-Japanese rice bowl joint makes the prettiest rice presentations I’ve come across. Scoring top marks for carbo-based staple, this is one place you wanna throw your no-carb rule outta window.
One of the shops that I found really interesting was Lampu.kl, because it was essentially a showroom with no staff. The shop sells customized neon lights, and there are a couple of setups within where visitors are encouraged to take selfies with. Next to the neon signs are QR codes that you can scan for more info on the pieces, as well as the price. Of course, you can find their social media handles on the posters around the room. Maybe this is the future of shopping.
There are quite a few cutesy shops selling handcrafted items and kedai makan (geddit?) here. We bought some essential oil from Wunderbath, pillow from Corak and Pattern and checked out Mossy Bola Kedoma.
Overall, a nice to place for desserts and to chill with friends.
I am also happy to say that the Apam Balik cake does taste like apam balik, yay! If I’m not mistaken, the cake itself is a butter cake? I can’t really tell as I was too busy ‘hantaming’ to take note … sorry. Whatever cake it was though, it was light yet thick and dense. On the top, there was a nice, thick layer of caramel with coconut flakes and peanuts bits scattered. It wasn’t too sweet and provided a nice crunch to the cake overall.
