As a baker myself, I must admit it takes skills and hell-lot of effort to achieve this amazing fluffiness in the cake. I would encourage you to try it at least once and marvel at the delicate crumb, mild sweetness and the amazing bounce.
Yes, we love imported goods, novelties and even food from other countries, especially Korea, Japan and now Taiwan. Bubble tea is the first famous beverage from Taiwan with Chatime business doing very well and until recently there's a name change. Now it is this OriginalCake from Taiwan! I heard about this crazy long queue of people waiting to buy this special cake and queueing up for about 1-3 hours for it!
This one was nothing short of amazing. It was moist, bouncy, light and airy but dense at the same time. You'd usually never use those words all in the same sentence. Eggy and fragrant, the cheese added another dimension to the usually plain sponge cake to keep you wanting more. I'm pleased to say that I now have a favorite sponge cake! Is it worth the wait? It's a big, resounding yes!
To be frank, it is a tasty cake but not the best out there. When we bought it home, we have mixed reactions on the taste of the cake. Many of us agreed the taste is pretty good but it is still not worth of the two hours of queuing.
After a bite, only release that it is a pretty normal cake. However, the light and airy taste comes after that. The taste of mild fragrant egg with is there and mild milk sweetness that pairs quite well at the very end of the bite. The base that is quite thick, gives you the bitterness of mild burnt taste, also believe that the separation of ingredient is quite prominent where the top half is softer and the bottom half is more dense. The taste is very straight forward and I believe we can get such cake in our Pasar Malam. In the box, mention that it can store maximum of 3 days in refrigerator. Food Rating 6.5/10, nice but to queue for 2-3 hours will pass first!.-Stamped-
The cheese version is even better! Slices of square cheddar cheese imported from New Zealand, sandwiched within the batter, sprinkled with more cheese powder on top and put into bake.
