This old school looking restaurant is seemingly out of place right in the middle of the CBD (17 Philip Street #01-01, 6336-2390). But it was packed and rowdy at lunch today, and I only realized after looking it up that it actually hasn't been at this location for very long.
Simple Teochew Food in Singapore at Chao Shan restaurant at Philips Street Raffles Place with pictures of menu with prices..
Overall, the food had a down to earth kind of feels, and the place seemed to be popular with their regulars. Must order would be the liver roll, chestnut chicken and orh nee.
Chao Shan Cuisine (潮山林) is a traditional Teochew restaurant at Philip Street, a stone’s throw from the OCBC Centre. They had moved from Beach Road to this location in the heart of Raffles Place in 2016. We stopped by with Teochew braised goose on our minds.
will try next time.
Chao San definitely surprised me and I left with my curiosity piqued about teochew cuisine yet again, onto more foodie adventures!
Service has always been ho-hum. But orders get taken and food is served fast. No complaints.
The restaurant was packed even for a weekday dinner and lucky for us, we made a quick reservation before heading down. The ambience reminded me of Lee Kui – full of chatter yet oddly comforting and familiar.
