Offer a great view of Busan. The street art is alright. Take the subway to Tuseong station. It's recommended to take a bus to Gamcheon village, as walking uphill is quite tough and could take 45 minutes.

Out of all observatory deck, the Little Prince and Desert Fox had the most visitors. The place was crowded and the line was crazy long.
  • 2015-03-24 00:00:00+00:00
It took us an approximate of two hours to see everything. But those two hours were enough to prove how a little effort from the government and the locals can turn something ordinary into something wonderful.

Haedong Yonggungsa Temple 해동용궁사 Attraction

86, Yonggung-gil, Gijang-eup, Gijang-gun, Busan

Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is situated on the coast of the north-eastern portion of Busan. This superb attraction offers visitors the rare find of a temple along the shore line; most temples in Korea are located in the mountains.

  • 2015-02-20 00:00:00+00:00
This temple overlooking the sea may be out of the way, but it’s still worth a visit. I bet it looks even more amazing during the winter when snow’s falling and covering everything from the roof to the ground.
  • 2014-11-14 00:00:00+00:00
Incredibly, Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is free to enter. It’s a gorgeous temple, perched on seaside boulders overlooking the azure waters of the East Sea, and is well worth the longish bus ride.
  • 2013-04-29 00:00:00+00:00
After passing by a tunnel ,we walked these 108 steps of stairs that is said to symbolize the 108 sufferings of Buddhism. After going down the 108 steps, we were delighted with the beauty of the temple.

Attraction

Haeundae Beach is probably the most famous beach in the country.

  • 2020-03-23 04:14:31+00:00
A popular and well-known beach, rows of colourful beach umbrellas can be found clambering for a space on the beach come summer.
  • 2016-03-05 00:00:00+00:00
The best period to visit is during June – the beginning of September. So, for those who planned to visit Korea during the summer, Haeundae would be one of your best options for memorable experiences in Korea.
  • 2014-09-13 00:00:00+00:00
During July and August, I was told that the beach is crowded with giant beach umbrellas and you can barely see the sand. However, the strong breeze and impending rain must have chased a lot of people off the beach because it was fairly empty (except near the stage). The beach also has an aquarium but it was around 20000 WON for admission.

Attraction

Designated as a Busan monument, along with Oryukdo Island, Taejongdae represents Busan, and is especially famous for its rock beach. Featuring its highest peak at 250 meters, there are forests of pine trees and 200 other varieties of trees.

  • 2016-10-01 05:56:00+00:00
The most iconic would be the coastal cliff view, which is really amazing.
  • 2015-02-06 00:00:00+00:00
The cliff is considerably the highlight of our visit to the Taejongdae Park. It is also the reason why I skipped the first few stations and ONLY alight at the lighthouse station. If you are short of time, this is the only station you need to visit out of all.
  • 2014-01-05 00:00:00+00:00
Pine trees and other vegetation blanket the sides of the road that winds through the park and placards direct people to step off the main road onto paths that head to certain spots along the rocky cliffs for clear views of the ocean. Visitors can find temples, an observatory, a lighthouse, and plenty of rocky cliffs to visit and enjoy, there are even dinosaur tracks to see.

Attraction

1.4 km long, 64 m wide, and is famous for its fine sand. This area has undergone a water cleaning program, and as a result, the water of the beach is pristine.

  • 2013-10-17 00:00:00+00:00
Once we reached the Gwangalli Beach, what being laid before us was an awesome scene of the beach and its surrounding features under the moonlight.
  • 2011-08-15 00:00:00+00:00
Gwangalli beach is Busan’s second-most popular beach (second to Haeundae). It has a distinctively more ‘city beach’ feel to it than its more-popular counterpart does. It’s a solid ‘7’ by day, but a ’10’ by night, where you can gaze at the iconic Diamond bridge, buy some fireworks, and drink to your heart’s desire. If you go during the day, Beach umbrellas are 5,000 won. Sit at one and an attendant will come to collect. Tubes for the water are 7,000-10,000 to rent, but you should get some deposit money back at the end.

Attraction

122, Haeinsa-gil, Gaya-myeon, Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do

  • 2013-04-03 00:00:00+00:00
With a group of around 11 participants it was a good opportunity to talk to the monks about their life in the temple as well, and in the evening we had a tea ceremony with one of the monks where all of us got to ask as many questions as we wanted.
  • 2012-10-11 00:00:00+00:00
The evening ceremony itself involves the entire community gathering in the main hall and chanting to a statue of Buddha. Like regular program participants, Vicky and I were allowed to stand side by side with the monks and bow with them as they chant. Not as easy as it sounds (in fact, a monk had to come over to us and tell us we were facing the wrong way). Unfortunately, I don’t think I’m doing it the justice it deserves, but definitely it was extremely interesting and quite unforgettable.

SEA LIFE Busan Aquarium Attraction

The Busan Aquarium contains over 35,000 species of fish, algae, reptiles, and amphibians. This state-of-the-art facility is one of Korea’s top aquariums.

  • 2016-07-14 00:00:00+00:00
On the cultural trip, we also visited the aquarium- and though not so big, had exhibitions of all the essential sealife & I always get excited visiting aquariums. Especially the jellyfish section, it is quite exquisite!
  • 2014-12-01 00:00:00+00:00
This aquarium is build more for the local parents to bring their children to learn about the different sea creatures, not to attract tourist(It is listed as a tourist location, but not the “must-visit” spot). Somehow, it also became a hot dating place, lots of couple were there, holding hands walking around, yet I was there with my junior…
  • 2012-06-17 00:00:00+00:00
Our favorite exhibit was the jellyfish room, with a huge collection of them held in colorfully-lit tanks. I’d never heard of the Upside-Down Jellyfish, before. Other favorites included the giant octopus, the sea horses and a section called “Dangerous Fish of the Ocean”.

BIFF Square BIFF 광장 Attraction

BIFF gwangjang-ro, Jung-gu, Busan

Busan’s modern movie district was originally little more than a pair of cinemas that were built following Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule over half a century ago. However, major renovations took place ahead of the first Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), and the newly transformed district was named BIFF Square on August 14, 1996.

  • 2016-09-26 07:27:00+00:00
A lot of street food and shopping around BIFF Square, stretching from Jagalchi station to Nampo station.
  • 2014-02-10 00:00:00+00:00
It is just one street only... Once u stop at Jagalchi Station, Gukje Market, PIFF Square & Busan Trickeye Museum is all within walking distance.. So you are actually saving a lot of time from traveling in subways.. Reach one subway station, hit a few places nearby :)
  • 2014-02-08 00:00:00+00:00
We saw a lot of seafood stall at BIFF Square. We bought some extra spicy tteobokki (woo… too spicy fire burning in my mouth), fried squid (the taste was really awesome. Taste like there’s butter in it) and some cheap stockings (my friend bought that for herself. A bundle of stockings… Hehe…). Nahh.. That’s how we end our full day trip, spending our night at BIFF square then going back to our Guesthouse. Jaljayo!

Dongbaekseom Island 동백섬 Attraction

Dongbaekseom Island (Island of Camellias) is an island located off one end of Busan's famous Haeundae Beach. Although the years of sedimentation have connected the island to the mainland, Dongbaekseom was originally an island and is still referred to as one.

  • 2014-11-17 00:00:00+00:00
Continue walk towards the end of the park is another entrance to the park not far from Westin Chosun Hotel and the first entrance. Many people came here for exercise and cycling. A great place to chill out if you like a park with beautiful sea-view.

Jinjuseong Fortress 진주성 Attraction

Jinjuseong Fortress, which is historically linked to the Japanese invasion in 1592, was originally named Geoyeolseong Fortress during the Three Kingdom Period, later renamed as Chokseokseong Fortress in the Goryeo Dynasty and finally settled as Jinjuseong Fortress in the Joseon Dynasty.

  • 2016-04-04 00:00:00+00:00
The interior of the Fortress contains some beautiful, well manicured parks and the museum grounds are no exception. Hidden outside the park are a couple of display pieces of the Hwacha (listed as the Shin-Ki Jeon from the Perry Miniatures site.) and the Hwago artillery piece. These are interesting pieces and must have struck a psychological blow on the battlefields of the day.
  • 2013-11-05 00:00:00+00:00
The path to the lookout loops down and brings visitors to the footsteps of the temple Hoguksa (호국사). Formerly the home of a group of warrior monks, it is now a peaceful place dedicated to honoring their memory. This picturesque temple is nestled into the folds of the hillside and girded in a shawl of trees; it is one of the most serene and beautiful settings I have encountered. I briefly entered the temple grounds, but the monks were conducting some sort of ceremony and I didn’t want to cause a distraction by taking a bunch of pictures.

We would highly recommend Upo Wetlands to any visitor wanting an afternoon getaway in the Korean countryside.

It starts getting really vibrant green around June and continues to grow all summer. In the fall it turns from green to a really golden color.

These are all striking areas and alluring sites of Jirisan, that said there’s no part of the national park that will leave you disappointed what ever the intention of your visit. The sites scatter throughout the park, the temples are perched in every corner and the trails make their way from north to south and east to west with a variety of challenges, landscapes peaks and passages. You will find the experienced Bear Grylls type hiking at dawn and the kinder gardener strolling at dusk.
  • 2014-10-24 00:00:00+00:00
It was a whirlwind of two days spent walking and eating without much sleep. This ridge is pretty remarkable in that you never dip much below 1400m, so you’re constantly up in elevation, getting treated to views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. If I had to narrow down my advice for this ridge to three things, they’d be: book a shelter far in advance, start very early each morning, and bring plenty of food/snacks/money! This weekend of the Jirisan ridge will be one I’ll forever look back upon and wonder, “gee whiz, how’d we do that?!?” Sure, it’s a lot of hiking and physically challenging, but if you start super early, bring plenty of food, stay hydrated, and bring the right layers of clothes, you can walk your way across this ridge just like we did!

Constructed by Sambeob who was a disciple of Euisang in the 23rd year of King Seongdeok’s reign during the Silla Era, it was called Okcheonsa Temple at first. Then, the Buddhist Monk, Jingam changed its name to Ssanggyesa Temple after having seeded around the temple with tea from China. The temple was burnt down during the Japanese Invasion, Imjinwaeran (1592-1598) and later rebuilt.

Oh, and getting to cook everything ourselves, on our charming little grill? Common!! What is more fabulous than that? What, I ask?

Attraction

17, Junggu-ro 53beon-gil, Jung-gu, Busan

Busan's Bupyeong Market is also known as Kkangtong (tin can) Market. It earned that funny name when it had a variety of imported canned goods from the United States for the US forces stationed in Korea during the Korean War. It was also known as ‘Dottegi (bustling plea) Market’. All the foreign products sold across the nation at that time were supplied from this market. Since this market is so large and had almost everything including foreign products which were rare at that time, it was also referred to as ‘Gukje (International) Market’. Nowadays, the market has reduced in size as many foreign products are freely imported, but the reputation and potential still remain. Some imported goods including liquor, clothes, ornaments, accessories, fashion items and electronic goods are still sold here.

Pyeongsari Park 평사리공원 Attraction

Situated along Seomjingang (Seomjin River) between Gurye and Hadong, Pyeongsari Park was built for the enjoyment of summer tourists to the area. In addition to the beautiful river, the park is home to campgrounds (open year-round), numerous shaded rest spots, basketball courts, soccer fields, and an abundance of parking space. Decorated with Jangseung (totem poles, which used to be set at the entrance of villages), the spacious park is full of excellent amenities: barbecue grills, benches, drinking fountains, and clean bathrooms. The sandy banks of the river offer a unique opportunity to catch marsh clams.
