Offer a great view of Busan. The street art is alright. Take the subway to Tuseong station. It's recommended to take a bus to Gamcheon village, as walking uphill is quite tough and could take 45 minutes.

Out of all observatory deck, the Little Prince and Desert Fox had the most visitors. The place was crowded and the line was crazy long.
  • 2015-03-24 00:00:00+00:00
It took us an approximate of two hours to see everything. But those two hours were enough to prove how a little effort from the government and the locals can turn something ordinary into something wonderful.

This hike is great for beginners and anyone who wants to see stunning views. The hike is flat and starts to the left after Sinheungsa Temple near the entrance. This 2km walk takes about 30 to 40 minutes. You’ll pass three different rest places to eat a meal or enjoy a drink. At the third restaurant you will know you have reached Biseondae Rocks.

So we head over to the cable car ticket station to buy our tickets which cost 9000 won per pax. They have time slots and limits people to take the cable car. We bought the 1.30pm time slot, that made us having spare 3hrs to walk around the park. So can you imagine how many people came early to queue for the cable car ride to go up.

And here it is. The famous stegosaur-like rock formation, Ulsanbawi, in the flesh. Beautiful and so awe-inspiring. The view from here is just breathtaking. Simply breathtaking. All the pictures in the world can't accurately portray how amazing everything looks from up here, where you have a bird's eye view of Sokcho, the East sea, and the rest of the Taebek mountain region. I read that on clear days you can also see into North Korea from here, given that the DMZ is just an hour's ride north from Sokcho.

  • 2016-02-07 00:00:00+00:00
Yeah, so we made it to Bukchon View #5 before giving up and headed back to my favourite place – Samcheongdong straightaway instead for some cafe hopping!

First day of trekking in Cheongsando on Route 5, probably one of the most natural and beautiful route here. It's nice to have one full day of sunny weather, hard to come by during this trip.
  • 2015-06-03 00:00:00+00:00
For transportation. There are Taxi, Routine Bus and Tour Bus. Taxi fee is more expensive than in Soeul and not so easy to catch. For routine bus(순환 버스), commits from 7:30am. to 16:30 starting at near DoCheongHang. One single route takes 1 hour. It costs 5000won per one day, unlimited use.
  • 2015-04-05 00:00:00+00:00
By the way, Cheongsando has only four cabs and one bus that stops running pretty early (before 4pm). Also the bus runs only in one direction. A lot of the pensions on the island offer pick up services if you tell them when and where you want to be picked up. We managed pretty well with the bus. You can catch it at the harbor and hop on and off however many times you like.

The alley runs longitudinally, split into two lanes, containing no less than 10 stalls selling similar thing – Jeon (can be done as Jijim or Jijimgae). Some stalls were so popular that there were at least 10 people in line, braving the smell of grease to get a Korean pancake deep fried in oil. Each cost about 4,000 – 5,000 Won.

Hiking up Hallasan via Seongpanak trail, absolutely beautiful, one of the most amazing trail I had been to. The peak is a volcano crater turned into a lake. Took the 6.20am bus 781 from the terminal and reach Seongpanak in 30 minutes. This trail is popular, with many people hiking on a Monday morning with good support infrastructure. You can arrive earlier and have breakfast here. The journey to the peak is about 5h, and you could come down via another trail. There is a shelter near the peak with toilet and sell hot coffee for 500won, amazing!
  • 2014-08-12 00:00:00+00:00
Overall, It took me 9 hours to climb up and down the Halla Mountain. I was exhausted after the climbing, but it was worth the visit as I could see the crater lake which cannot be seen easily on a sunny day. After the rain comes the crater lake, so Mountain climbers, come visit the Halla Mountain when it clears after the rain!
  • 2013-09-25 00:00:00+00:00
After a grueling speed walk up the last few 100m, we summited Halla Mountain late morning, just as the mist rolled in. It was rather chilly at the top, and unfortunately very overcast so after taking a couple of pics of the crater and resting for 15 minutes, we started our descent.

  • 2015-02-20 00:00:00+00:00

During July and August, I was told that the beach is crowded with giant beach umbrellas and you can barely see the sand. However, the strong breeze and impending rain must have chased a lot of people off the beach because it was fairly empty (except near the stage). The beach also has an aquarium but it was around 20000 WON for admission.

Attraction

Haneul Park (Sky Park), located within the World Cup Stadium Park, is a grassland park that was formed where the second site of the Nanjido Landfill once stood. As it was once a landfill and the soil especially poor, the Haneul Park wasteland recovery project demonstrates how nature can flourish out of what was once barren land.

  • 2016-02-06 00:00:00+00:00
The park was in fact a landfill some 20 years ago, but the Seoul government decided to turn it into an ecological park, and look at the success it is now. It is now a popular picnic destination for Korean families and couples on weekends, as well as photoshoot location for many tourists.
  • 2015-04-28 00:00:00+00:00

Myeongdong is the most crowded shopping street in Seoul. It has many branded clothing shop and street eatery, but the experience could be unpleasant due to the crowd.
  • 2016-08-03 00:00:00+00:00
  • 2015-08-09 00:00:00+00:00
It’s not a secret that cosmetics and skincare in Korea are very cheap, since that is where they come from. But you might not know that some items can be crazily cheap because they can go on a one-for-one promotion, of 50% discount! If you happen to be shopping with friends, you might get to enjoy even cheaper price tags just by sharing! So my tip is to look out for incredible promotions and especially those one-for-one!

Attraction

54, Naksan-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul

Naksan Park gets its name from its camel hump-like appearance. In Korean ‘nakta’ means camel and ‘san’ means mountain. So people refer to the park as Nakta Park or Naksan Park. The mountain is a solid granite bedrock. The Joseon royal family enjoyed the natural beauty of the granite mountain, but during the Japanese Colonial Period, a hasty manner of urban planning resulted in the demolition of most parts of the mountain. In an effort to save the remaining green belts, Naksan was designated as a park on June 10, 2002. Located in the center of the Seoul, this historical and beautiful park allows its visitors to view the magnificence of the entire city.

The green tea ice cream was the best. The roll was honestly very average, although in part because they were served too cold and straight out of the freezer as demand far exceeded their ready supply. Some people would question if it’s worth spending over two and a half hours (one-way) to get to Pocheon Herb Island, but I think it isn’t a big issue if you have access to the free wi-fi on the subway, or if you’re going with friends. I suspect it’d be better to come in a large group, because only then can you get a try at some of the hands-on activities.

Attraction

Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea

The Gingko tree-lined street (Sinsadong Garosu-gil) that runs from Sinsa Station (Subway Line 3) to Hyeondae High School is a popular, upscale street in Seoul. The street (also known as ‘artists' street’) has an eccentric flair thanks to its variety of charmingly decorated coffee shops, and designer stores. Garosu-gil is particularly popular in autumn when the golden Gingko leaves begin to fall.

Pine trees and other vegetation blanket the sides of the road that winds through the park and placards direct people to step off the main road onto paths that head to certain spots along the rocky cliffs for clear views of the ocean. At Tong-in Market, visitors can opt to pay W5,000 and try just a helping of numerous Korean fare at a great price at the “Dosirak” Cafe, or Lunchbox Cafe, inside. Go there to be cheap or go there to try something new, either way, it’s a good decision for a lunch while out in the city.

Korea's secret island is unlike any other in the country, with dramatic cliffs, a volcanic cone, and pristine waters, it's a must-see destination.
  • 2014-04-29 00:00:00+00:00
If you can go to Ulleungdo and have a car, you'll be golden. Between the rural, quiet fishing village vibe and the awe-inspiring scenery, I can't emphasize enough that you all need to go visit this island. You won't regret it.

I stayed at Bada Seom Motel, about a 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal in Dodong. Rooms are very clean and airconditioned. You can choose between a western-style room (with a bed) or Korean ondol-style room (mattress on the floor). For a room with a bed it costed us about 70,000 won a night split between two people. Of course, this was peak season prices so it could different at different times of the year.

Dragon Head Beach Attraction

218-10, Sanbang-ro, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju-do

Yongmeori Beach is a place where Mt. Sanbangsan stretches into the ocean and it looks as if a dragon’s head is going underwater. This area is made of Sa-am stacks, built up over millions of years. There are Gulbangs here which are depressed into the shape of rooms, and wide rocks stacking up on one another along the seashore cliffs which create a majestic scenery by the sea. Along the road down to the seashore, there is the Hamel Castaway Memorial, in remembrance of Hamel who drifted to this place in 1653. Just off to the right of the beach is a soft and dark sandy beach. You can meet the women sea-divers of Jeju who sell sea cucumbers and stroll on the road that spreads along the seashore.

Supposed to see a very beautiful and big cliff up close here, but sadly the walkway is closed due to high waves warning (even though the weather is sunny).
  • 2014-08-05 00:00:00+00:00
It was around here that i was just FREAKING OUT. It was so GORGEOUS and SPECTACULAR and i was a bit drunk and admiring everything and taking hundreds of pictures and going, “Oh my goddddd what the fuckkkkkk!!!!”
  • 2014-02-07 00:00:00+00:00

The buildings were incredible, the gardens peaceful and even the souvenir shop seemed to offer a number of products we hadn’t seen elsewhere. For those wanting to spend a little longer in the area, there is also a trail linking Bulguksa with the Seokgurum Grotto further up the mountain range.

Hyehwa-dong rotary ~ Ihwa-dong rotary, Hyehwa-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul-si

The center of Daehangno, Marronnier Park, has frequent live acts and dance performances by young people. This is why Daehangno is called the “Play Mecca” and “Young Street” as well. Another reason Daehangno became so popular with young people is the various interesting sights and food to be found here. Many restaurants, fast food joints, cafes, and bars are concentrated here, making it convenient for people to find something to do after plays and live-performances. Its unique atmosphere and space continues to be loved by many young people.

A more artistic shopping and eateries street with theaters and street art.
  • 2016-08-01 05:57:23+00:00
Although 대학로 is more of a theater district, there are a good number of international restaurants, cafes, cinemas, a jazz bar, and some small stores to shop at. Since it’s a college area, everything is really cheap compared to some other places in the city. Whether you’re looking to try some traditional Korean liquor, known as 막걸리, and 파전 (Korean pancake) with your friends, or purchasing some skin care products, you will definitely get your money’s worth at 대학로!
  • 2013-04-16 00:00:00+00:00

Attraction

1.4 km long, 64 m wide, and is famous for its fine sand. This area has undergone a water cleaning program, and as a result, the water of the beach is pristine.

  • 2013-10-17 00:00:00+00:00
Once we reached the Gwangalli Beach, what being laid before us was an awesome scene of the beach and its surrounding features under the moonlight.
  • 2011-08-15 00:00:00+00:00
Gwangalli beach is Busan’s second-most popular beach (second to Haeundae). It has a distinctively more ‘city beach’ feel to it than its more-popular counterpart does. It’s a solid ‘7’ by day, but a ’10’ by night, where you can gaze at the iconic Diamond bridge, buy some fireworks, and drink to your heart’s desire. If you go during the day, Beach umbrellas are 5,000 won. Sit at one and an attendant will come to collect. Tubes for the water are 7,000-10,000 to rent, but you should get some deposit money back at the end.

Today is my last day in South Korea, and I have the leisure time to explore this narrow and long park again. It stretch for more than 1km long connecting Hongik Station with Gajwa Station. It is indeed beautiful and relaxing to walk through this small park in the city.
  • 2016-05-20 00:00:00+00:00
As you walk down the park the first port of call should be the bottle shop ‘Beer Super’ on your left hand side. With two wooden barrels outside a brown exterior you can’t miss it, and you’ll find a great range of imported beers from all around the world. Here you can enjoy of one the many perks of Seoul which is drinking in public! If alcohol isn’t for you don’t be perturbed as there are many other types of drinks available further down the park.

Attraction

With a group of around 11 participants it was a good opportunity to talk to the monks about their life in the temple as well, and in the evening we had a tea ceremony with one of the monks where all of us got to ask as many questions as we wanted.
  • 2012-10-11 00:00:00+00:00
The evening ceremony itself involves the entire community gathering in the main hall and chanting to a statue of Buddha. Like regular program participants, Vicky and I were allowed to stand side by side with the monks and bow with them as they chant. Not as easy as it sounds (in fact, a monk had to come over to us and tell us we were facing the wrong way). Unfortunately, I don’t think I’m doing it the justice it deserves, but definitely it was extremely interesting and quite unforgettable.

Attraction

21, Namdaemunsijang 4-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul

Opened in 1964, Namdaemun Market is the largest traditional market in Korea with various goods in store. All products are sold at affordable prices and the stores in this area also function as a wholesale markets.

  • 2016-01-11 00:00:00+00:00
  • 2014-11-02 00:00:00+00:00
In summary, i thought Namdaemun market is like a humongous Chong Pang market with products that could attract local aunties and uncles. Is it a must visit? Why not, especially if you are going to be shopping next door at Myeongdong.
