Pad Thai, 11.90 ringgit. Now this dish, was da bomb. Delicious. You’d get a plate of sticky, gooey noodles + peanut crumbs + pork meat + tauhu + bean sprouts, mix it all up and yummmmmm!! Of course, add in some chili oil into the mix and it even gets much better. This is worth every penny.

The Porki Society is a Thai restaurant in Sea Park just minutes’ drive away from SS2. They made waves with their boat noodles a couple of years ago when those were still considered the must try food in Klang Valley. Now, The Porki Society is perhaps better well known for their affordable and well executed Thai pork dishes, which I have to say are deserving of their reputation

Go Noodle House - Jaya One 有間麵館 Restaurant

Block D, The School, Jaya One 61-P1, Jalan Universiti Pjs 13 46200 Petaling Jaya Selangor

The story of GO Noodle House revolves around the values of rela onship. At a dinner hosted by one of the co-founders in his humble home, the group of friends were impressed by the tradi onal ChaoZhou soup served by his mother. Using this family recipe, which evolved from the Qing Dynasty, as a base, the group of friends re ned the technique and set up the very rst GO Noodle House in 2014. Using superior pork broth, enhanced with premium yellow rice wine, as a base – diners can choose a variety of noodles and toppings to make a delicious and wholesome meal. A crowd favourite is GO Noodle House’s signature mi xian, which is made from pure rice our. The signature bursting meatball is also an ever present in almost every order. Aside from pork-based top- pings, guests can also choose to add on a wide variety of beef and seafood.

I notice a new item on the menu of Go Noodle so I ordered it to try. A bowl of Sui Gao (dumpling Beijing style) in soup at MYR 14.50++ (10% service charge and 6% SST = MYR 16.82 nett). The skin is thick so I like it. The minced pork and chives fillings reminded me of the fillings of Siew Long Bao sold by Esquire Kitchen. There are about 8 dumplings in one bowl. I recommended this dish to my family and they like it too because they like Beijing style dumplings.

The signature rice noodles with meatball, which according to others, the meatball has a soupy and juicy filling, which will burst in your mouth. I started with having a sip of its soup and it did not disappoint me. The soup, which was made from fish bone, was flavourful but refreshing at the same time. The rice noodles were very springy, well absorbed with the soup. While others may not like coriander, I was very pleased that coriander was given generously on the top of my bowl. Anyway, if you don't like it, you may opt it out by informing the waiter.

You may have to spend around RM20 per pax for a meal here if you order their char siew separately by portion sizes. If you find the prices too steep, then go for a more reasonably priced plate of char siew rice. Though this place has been around for 7 years now, I don't know if the standard is still the same as when they first started (since this is my first visit) but it definitely has a place (in my books) among some of the top-notch char siew I've had over the years. We tend to eat at the same places or close to where we live and I'm only discovering some of these places since I started blogging about my food experiences among others. I guess I should have come sooner but better late than never, right? It'll be interesting to see what's in store at their new place.....new additions to the menu perhaps? I shall return! ^_^

The main dishes I tried didn't quite endear me with their taste possibly because it was just too much meat (for me) in one sitting. The draw factor for its popularity is certainly its low prices (with most mains costing below RM20) and big portions. If you're ok with the unimaginative and simple taste of localised western food (and some processed food forming part of the ingredients), then you'd probably be ok with the food here.

Capitol Nasi Dagang Kelantan Restaurant

29, Jalan SS 21/1a Damansara Utama 47400 Petaling Jaya Selangor Malaysia

Nasi Dagang Nasi Dagang is the ‘Nasi Lemak’ of the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia, in the states of Terengganu and Kelantan. A type of brown rice steamed with coconut milk and served with rich fish gravy and vegetable pickles. Nasi Dagang literally means "Trading Rice". It is a well-known breakfast food in the states on the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia, such as Terengganu and Kelantan and Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat in Southern Thailand. The Petai Fried Rice was pretty good. 24 ringgit may seem quite steep to some of you but do bear in mind that it comes in a large portion. WE weren’t too hungry as we had a heavy breakfast just a few hours prior, which was why we ended up with fried rice and noodles, instead of rice with meat and vegetables. The ‘Small’ option for fried rice literally had enough to feed 2 peeps. No joke. It would have been too much for just one person. The fried rice had loads of petai in it, which I loved. Always having to run off to one meeting after next, indulging in petai is a luxury. Considering I was meeting free this particular day – I can eat as much petai as I want and fart equally as much, lol. Besides the loads of petai, there were plenty of prawns, squids, chicken. This was a yummy dish. My all time favorite would still be the one served at Precious old China but this was equally as awesome.

After arriving at this place, I can confirm that this place had definitely lived up to my expectation, stunning mural adorning the entire wall inside the premise, a touch of opulence with the use of gold hardware and an ostensibly industrial vibe with the wide folding door, it was absolutely modern and chic. But I'd say I am not the biggest fan of the overall layout of this place. Located just on the lower ground of the newly opened mall, Makamakan by Jibby is incredibly difficult to locate all due to its unstrategic location (i.e. at the end of the stretch of the row of restaurants which by the way has no access from the inside of the mall). The outlet gives me the impression that they emphasizes more on al fresco dining than indoor dining judging from the small space and the limited dining table indoor and abundance of tables outside. While it is a pretty sight to look at while sitting outdoor, I always think it's not the most practical setting given the blazing heat that's bestowed on us on a fairly frequent basis.

The Nasi Lemak rice bowl was very good, was beyond my expectation. As you can see, this is not your typical, basic Nasi Lemak. The one here came with more ingredients and variety. Their sambal was a fusion between nasi lemak sambal and satay peanut sauce?? That was what it tasted like to me. It certainly was unique and I loved it. Their Signature Chicken consisted of chicken meatballs dipped in sweet sauce with sesame sprinkle. Ooooo yummy!
