All in all, the food was tasty and strongly flavoured plus we got acquainted with a new fish name. Price point could be better though.
Ambience at Tan Yu 探鱼 is modern industrial, with a grungy street feel.
There was a green pepper limbo fish that was not bad.
The prawn and red miso soup (Aka Misoshiru) had a very good prawn shell and clam flavour, and the burdock and fashion-infused rice (Gobou Gohan) was fragrant as well.
We wouldn’t go all the way to Matsukiya for the Kushiyaki but we definitely wouldn’t mind dropping by for the Miyazaki A4 Wagyu Donburi again.
The kushiyaki set lunch (picture below) was served on a tray with rice, prawn broth, three types of kushiyaki and a soft egg. There was a choice of kushiyaki and we picked chicken wing, thigh and asparagus with bacon. We liked all the components of this set. The prawn broth in particular was thick and rich, like the soup of a very good prawn noodle.
