Dandy Modern Food is a specious and classy restaurant.
I love Hummus very much but i canβt hardly find a good one in Penang, glad to have a big bowl of Hummus here and it taste real good.
Dandy Lamb - Smokey aromatic rice with roasted lamb and tabbouleh salad (about MYR 24). I like the taste of the lamb in this dish.
The Chicken Chop is good but wish to have more Pico De Gallo at the side.
Here's the location.
We wanted something light to start with, the Beef Ragu Taco appeared to be one of the perfect choices. Spiced minced Beef served with julienned Lettuce, Tomatoes and Coleslaw wrapped in a heated up Taco; lovely combination and the seasoning was just spot on.
Papisz Cafe is not a cafe where you can easily spot if you don't know the exact location of where to find it.
If you are a cheese fanatic, you should definitely check out the mouthwatering dishes such as Chicken or Fish Parmigiana doused with torched cheese. Their homemade meatballs is one of the best you can find in the town with its bursting flavour and juicy texture.
Food here is tasty and the environment is great too, plus, service is good .
If you are a serious Cronut fan, then Black Door Coffee & Tea is your spot. The latest addition at Arena Curve, Bayan Lepas (opposite to Arang Coffee) serves up some Cronut-related sweet treats but that's not all, there are an array of the usual Cafe fare as well as some home-made pastries and cakes. While the name- Black Door does paint a picture on the exterior, we certainly did not expect the interior decor to be in completely dark shade as well. The atmosphere is casual with a sense of industrial vibe. But the fact that the cafe offers full-fledged menu- from appetizer to main course and dessert so for those who are working nearby (Bayan Lepas) or happen to find yourself wandering about the neighborhood, the cafe is worth-visiting.
Yuzu Ice Blended is refreshing and there is some sour taste to it making it appetizing, it opens up your appetite to eat more, haha !
One of Chillis And Cheese's signature dishes- the Chilli Mi is a Nasi Lemak in noodle version. Spaghetti was used in this case... and stir fried in Sambal, served with the standard Nasi Lemak condiments like Peanuts, Anchovies, minced Chicken meat, Cucumbers and some Egg. The flavors were good and the Sambal possessed the mandatory chili punch but we would prefer the Spaghetti to be slightly more al-dente
As for the sweet treat, the Waffle was freshly made on the spot and we were amazed by the surprisingly airy-crispy texture. The Maple Syrup was delicious but the Mango Sorbet could be better... it lacked the refreshing acidity and the flavor was a little too artificial. No idea why the Mochies were there though.
One item in the menu that caught our attention was Pan Seared Fish with Miso Sauce (RM 24.90). It comes with Pan Grill Fish Fillet served on top of the a bedding of generous quantity mashed potatoes, along with some sauteed mushrooms and baby spinach. The overall taste is above average, especially when we can taste the delicateness from bonito flakes and earthy flavour from sauteed mushrooms. Miso Sauce was something special which gave it the fish a nice sleek finishing, though at times we feel it was too salty for our liking.
Environment here is comfortable and the service is good too.
The other mains we had- Barnyard Fowl and The Egg Royale were both equally great. The former choice comes in a huge portion with grilled Chicken served atop of mashed Potato and greens... with barbecue sauce. The Chicken was juicy-tender and the mashed was nicely done.
Olive Tree Hotel is a 4-star hotel at Bayan Baru, right next to Arena Curve and SPICE Arena.
J-dog's petting zoo is the main attraction for most people.
