Mont Kiara is a bit out of the way from central KL, and I wouldn’t recommend travelling out there for this. However, if you’re nearby and have exhausted your usual places, it might be worth your while.
Hot Chocolate (MYR 12) Smooth and rich cup of Korte 60% cacao content from West Java Sipping some good cuppa while accompanied by a calming landscape front view- bliss!
[Pork-free] Don’t be a rookie, have a Brookie. Brookie (brownie + cookie) is soft and chewy, with gooey choc chips inside.
Good service, but small portion and average taste given the price point.
Although the staff’s attitude could use a tune-up and the prices are obnoxious, I begrudgingly have to admit that the food here is quite tasty. It’s what keeps this place decently busy, even at midday on a Monday with no lunch sets offered. This meal cost us over RM50 and we didn’t even get any drinks, and Mark wasn’t all that hungry and tried to get something small. If you’re a regular person who cares how much money flies out of your bank account, Ra-Ft should be reserved for an occasion and not just a whatever work lunch. And definitely make sure you are hungry, so that you’re not paying RM20 for a salad.
The Botanist RM25 – a vegetarian dish that caught Summergirl’s attention the most, as not many cafes have vegetable-loaded brunch dish like this other than salad. Gluten free bread with mashed peas spread, further layered up with broccoli, zucchini, kale and pea sprouts! Not to forget, a poached egg hidden within.
Verdict: A place that well worth checking out for dessert devotees. I enjoyed the food and they were admittedly good. Those desserts definitely doesn’t come cheap which I think I only afford to have it occasionally. Q_Q
We will return to Soft Cloud Dessert Cafe when I’m in the mood for souffle pancakes. They’re a lot of food at a pretty good price. It’s a serious sugar rush to eat here, though. There’s nothing remotely savoury on the menu to balance out all the sugar, so it will be a rare occasion.
Apart from souffle, I personally enjoyed their Yuzu Lime Kakigori , it's so refreshing and I like Yuzu flavored food, a complex blend of sweet and sour.
I often forget how white I am and how many sandwiches I’ve eaten in my life compared to Malaysians. Gourmet sandwich cafes just as good as this existed on every other block back home in Toronto. They never had a queue and they were cheap to boot. Thus, VCR Stacks left me really nonplussed with their expensive sandwiches that don’t come with any sides and take an hour before you can finally sink your teeth into them. However, I understand that tasty sandwich shops are hard to find in Kuala Lumpur. In Malaysia, VCR Stacks is a novelty and the only place in the area to get these sort of ingredients, so the crowds are justifiable. The dishes we ate here were fresh and yummy, but personally, I don’t have the patience for the constant waiting that is involved with eating here again.

Overall, a lovely place for quick breakfast, as well as leisure brunch. Price wise, it is actually not-so-friendly, but still affordable and acceptable. Service is friendly, good social distancing. You might need to wait for quite a while during peak hours.
Kiara Cakes has to compete with KoFi by 77 and Copenhagen Coffee that are steps away. Though Kiara Cakes’ food menu is very limited, its selection of sweets and pastries is miles ahead of the other two cafes. All of their cakes looked tempting and weren’t the same old flavours I have seen a hundred times at other cafes. Kiara Cakes is now on my list of options for the next time I’m craving a drink and a snack.
Lavender Chocolate Cake with Earl Grey Buttercream, 14.90 ringgit Anyways, when I decided to give this particular cake a go, I was not expecting all the flavors – lavender, chocolate and earl grey to be evident. In a lot of cases, you’d be able to taste some of the flavors but not every single one. So, I kindda went along with that thought pattern but I sure was surprised. First mouth in, I tasted lavender and chocolate and then, while you are biting into it and savoring, the distinct taste of earl grey makes its appearance. I liked it. I especially liked it even more after it has been in room temperature for a while – the buttercream get creamier? Yea, at this point, the Lavender and Earl Grey combination was more prominent. It was da bomb. Having it with the thick, moist chocolate cake was heaven.
Reasons to visit Kiara Cakes: Charming neighbourhood vibe atmosphere good for friends, families and dates; they are serious about their coffee; sweet tooths will be in heaven in with our personal favourites the Lavender Chocolate Cake (Maggie) and Burnt Cheesecake (Mon).
Walking on Sunshine has clearly set a high standard for themselves. Not only is the restaurant a beautiful space, but the food is exquisitely presented and tastes great. The service was also noteworthy. I don’t typically care much about a restaurant’s service as long as they bring me the correct plate of food, but everyone at Walking on Sunshine was so welcoming and friendly. Even the hairstylists were helpful when I obviously wasn’t getting a haircut today. It’s a bit expensive, but aren’t all brunch places? In Mont Kiara, no less?! Unlike the others, however, Walking on Sunshine nails the big three: a lovely environment, superb service and yummy food.
Lisette’s is an easy choice. This place always has tonnes of people eating here, yet we’ve never had to wait for a seat. The restaurant is beautiful, and the extensive menu means there’s always something new to try. The beef pie alone is worth coming back to Lisette’s again and again. It’s also a great place for just coffee and a snack with its selection of delicious-looking pastries. It isn’t cheap, of course, so Lisette’s Cafe & Bakery will only be an occasional treat for us.
Food is good, service is nice and plenty of pastries.
Although the sandwiches and some of their drinks are overpriced, I would come back to KoFi by 77. Their bread is fantastic, and the slice of cake we tried was delicious and not too expensive. It’s a comfortable, quiet space. I can see why those who know about this place spend hours here.
However, service though was a bit slow when we were here. Understandably, it was 8 pm and it takes time to make these fresh waffles – but some updates by the waiting staff would have been appreciated.
I’m not sure if we’ll return to O’Coffee Club. The dishes are hit-and-miss, and the menu is a little dull. There are only a couple of dishes I’d like to try. The burger we ordered was tasty, but I don’t know in what situation where I would choose this burger over the ones from Crust. It’s hard to find a decent burger in Mont Kiara, so I’m keeping this place on my list. O’Coffee Club is a passable option that’s a good deal since it’s a larger portion and includes a drink.
We were able to get a tasty, casual lunch for a good price, considering the area. The cabinet sandwiches we ordered were cheap and filling. I could see other tables with pasta and soup, and they looked like decently sized portions. This is not a place worth travelling to just to eat here, though. Qra Cafe is a convenient spot for residents who want a quick bite after picking up their groceries.
CLASSIC BURGER- CHICKEN/BEEF (MYR 17) Homemade patty with signature sauce and cheese. Each bites feels mouthful and satisfyingly sinful with well-textured inhouse made meat patty. This version by Hachi Bakery allows me to savour the grubs worry-free as no other unnecessary fats addition are included except real and raw ingredients used in producing it genuincely. Hence, it’s really juicy and delightful in its own way.
[Pork-free] SEE Café is a newly opened space in Arcoris Mont Kiara, in a collaborative effort between Signature Market and Barista Guild Asia. With the latter operating the espresso machine here, we knew the coffee was going to be stellar – and truly, it did not disappoint.
All in, we really enjoyed the Houjicha Chiffon Cake here – which we ordered on both visits.

I’m not used to drink shops being so bossy, but Don’t Yell At Me is a welcome addition to the neighbourhood, in my opinion. This is a cosy place to hang out and their drinks are creative enough to set them apart from the few tea shops that already exist close by.
Most of the ingredients used at 不要对我尖叫 Dont Yell At Me were important from Taiwan.
Out of the three pastries I tried, my favorite would be the Almond Croissant. The croissant was soft, warm and moist. It embodied all the elements I love in a pastry. Lets not forget the butter
Verdict: They need to incorporate more Mamee noodles in their offerings, to be honest. That’s just my humble opinion. Food is good, not great – I think this is a one-time visit for me.
There is some serious eats right here and it is a place which I would visit again, which in fact I did as just one visit would not do it justice.
美中不足的是, Dal.Komm表示虽然Black Latte非常受欢迎, 但是因为高成本以及进口的原材料有限, 这款Black Latte只会出现在这个季节
