I was surprised at how well everything came together, although the chimichurri sauce was overshadowed by the rendang. There was the al dente bite from the pasta, the grainy texture from the couscous, the crunch of fresh veggies and a burst of sweetness from the corn. The dory fish was also prepared well, with slightly crisp edges. I thought I wouldn’t like it very much because I’m not a big veggie eater, but the sauces masked the leafy, green taste typical of salads.

I chose a barley drink and requested it to be less sweet which they did fulfill. I like this set meal because the portion of rice is small and sweet sour pork chop is one of my favourite food from my childhood..

Second time here, nowadays always have to book ahead with deposit. This time the food is less satisfying than the last visit: the quail seems less marinated and less crispy, chicken meat a bit bland though the stock is nice, and seafood fish is quite nice. House wine at RM55 for 250ml is pretty good. Next time should try the beef steak. I like dipping the sourdough into the stock, irresistible.

Omu Hamburg Steak 24.90 But the omlette was too bland to provide any additional taste to the burger steak. The burger steak was all right, it tasted like just another frozen burger steak, it was pretty dry. The vegetables were so bland and raw that they totally dull the whole dish. I think the dish would have tasted so much better if they made the effort to fire grill those vege and give them an additional flavour to complement the dish. So this dish was a total fail in our opinion.

The scrambled egg is done to perfection here. Upon slicing it, the oval omelette unfurled its soft cooked egg curds. Such beauty works are a work to be amazed at, and of course it equally tantalizing. It paired well with the teriyaki chicken. Instead making it a Japanese cuisine, they made a fusion by introducing broccoli, lotus roots and capsicum, which worked perfectly

How often do you see this particular dish served in a cafe and that too with an Asian twist to it – the kailan ? Not often, right? It tasted as yummy as it looked. Between the crispy chicken karaage + baby kailan + guacamole + sweet potato rosti, I was happily satisfied. The combination of items on the plate, the mix of flavors made for a yummy dish. The words usually synonymous with soufflé pancakes are airy, bouncy and fluffy … and the ones here certainly embodied that. It was a nice aesthetically pleasing ‘blob’ on a plate, lol. The pancake comes with Pu’er gelato, which I was told is tea flavored and muesli crumble + vanilla syrup. The combination was lovely. I like tea flavored ice cream and gelato and so, it was no surprise that I enjoyed this one. It was thick, milky and not to sweet.

Big eaters might have the need to do an add-on, or simply just pick something else, because I am usually super full and bloated after having eggs benedicts, but this was definitely a smaller portion. My unagi rice bowl lunch set at MYR 16 nett. The Onsen Egg here is more like a soft boiled egg on the way to be a hard boiled egg but still with runny yolk so I took both eggs home and recooked them to be fully cooked with half of my rice. The pieces of unagi are a bit on the thin side but acceptable.
  • thefoodbunny.com

The Unagi and Cucumber was delicious. However, do you notice the size of the Unagi? Way too small. There was quite a bit of rice in the bowl and after only 6 spoons, the Unagi was gone. Why laaaaa? Why? I want a bigger piece, please? The unagi + poached egg + rice + cucumber combo was very good. The distinct taste of the unagi with the soggy, moist, sticky combination of the egg and rice was something I enjoyed a whole lot but even before I hit the ‘satisfied’ mode, the Unagi is gone. Howwwlaa like that?? That is why I had to order roast chicken as add on. There were still quite a bit of rice left and it needed some meat – the chicken was a good addition. It certainly dont compare to the Unagi but it makes a good substitute.

An authentic carbonara was attempted but they ended up with a slightly scrambled egg pasta. Pasta was al dente and had a nice texture. Rendang was fragrant and sweet on its own so with the pasta, it was an okay pairing - not too weird. The moment the pasta plate was placed on the table, I had to snicker at the chunks of visibly overcooked egg. This place is halal so an 100% authentic carbonara would've been impossible but in all honesty, I was expecting a cream based 'American carbonara'.

The Nasi Kerabu includes a large piece of tender, juicy chicken thigh + ulam + fish crackers + salted egg. It had all the makings of being an awesome dish if it were not for one small detail – the percik sauce/gravy. What usually would be thick and a lil sweet, is missing the ‘umph’ factor here. The texture is good, the flavor/taste needs some tweaking. If that is gotten right, then this would have been a good dish. Overall, despite the slightly bland percik sauce, once everything is mixed, you’d get a nice mix of textures and flavors. Depending on how you like your sauce, this may be a good dish or a satisfactory one.

Besides that, the dish also came with chicken, egg, cucumber, tauhu. The noodles I requested for was mee hoon and there was plenty of it. Overall, tasty dish. I liked the gravy. Both dishes ordered were recommended, crowd favorites. The Cordon Bleu was well plated, I liked how it was presented. Tasted good too. The dish consisted of 5 pieces of chicken that was wrapped in cheese. Then, once breaded the ones here are pan fried and then tossed in the oven. I dig the texture, crispy on the outside, chewy and dense on the inside, flavorful too. The chicken was served on a bed of salad, some mushroom, tomatoes, salsa, greens. A tasty dish indeed.
