Only kway teow with no noodles. Quite moist and oily, with the kway teow quite distinct although fairly soft with some bite. Not a bad char kway teow, with a slightly sweeter flavour profile, although not overly so.
While our local prawn noodle soup would not include hard boil egg, Penang's style did. Ingredients like lean meat and prawns with a substantial seafood soup taste were good enough. Not overpowering.
Tasty and flavourful chicken katsu, light and crispy outside and tender and moist inside, with a nice sweet Japanese curry with chunks of potatoes and carrots. Good standard, with a constant queue at the stall.
The porridge is adequately flavored without having to add any more seasonings.
No doubt that the Hokkien Mee fits the basic criteria of a plate of traditional noodle, it is of a saltier side. Nonetheless, it does has its traits like a little "Wok Hei" flavours and those "Gu Zhao" taste with noodles soaking up the goodness from the stock.
Indeed, the steamed fish was nicely done and the texture of the flesh was soft and succulent. The sauce, which was swimming with tomatoes, mushrooms, and preserved vegetables had just the right balance of sour and savoury flavours.
Overall, I find that Yuguo Curry Rice is pretty decent. Though it is not the typical Hainanese Curry Rice, I will still recommend it to those who love Hainanese Curry Rice with generous portions and at an affordable price of less than $10 for two plates above.
