Kam’s Roast Restaurant

9 Scotts Road #01-04/05/06/07, Pacific Plaza Singapore 228210

Kam’s Roast Singapore honors a family legacy that began with our beloved late grandfather, Mr. Kam Shui Fai, and father, Mr. Kam Kinsen Kwan Sing. Our proud culinary tradition began in 1942, when our grandfather opened the Yung Kee Restaurant on Wellington Street in Hong Kong which soon became a destination for discerning diners from around the world. Our father has continued to build on grandfather’s vision that began over 70 years ago, and we, too, are inspired to carry on in the Kam family tradition of bringing world-class cuisine to you. As third-generation restauranteurs, our mission at Kam’s Roast is to provide a memorable dining experience to every guest, each and every time. Serving impeccable food in the warmth of a family-oriented environment, we continue our commitment to the values and principles that have been passed down to us through the generations. We hope you enjoy your meal at Kam’s Roast Singapore.

Every packet of their wanton is filled with plump and fresh shrimp; I’ve enjoyed every bit of it. As for those dumplings, each of them is stuffed to the brim with delicious filling so if you want something more filling than shrimps, dumplings have pork in it but my heart and palate is won over by the Wanton Tendon Soup (RM 14.90).

Polo Bun with Butter (菠萝油) – RM4.50, a very typical Hong Kong pastry. The top of the bun was covered with slightly sweet crust while the inner of the bun was stuffed with a piece of creamy butter. In Penang, it is so difficult to get Polo Butter Bun. That is the reason I came to this cafe to try out the bun. It is in fact one of their best-sellers and usually sold out by noon. The top crust was so nice and the bun was soft and warm. Having it with soft and creamy butter was simply satisfying. This bun is perfect when it is served warm.

My Personal Opinion If this is as close as the real thing in Hong Kong (maybe less 'dirty' ^_*), then I don't understand why people like cart noodles. The reviews on this place are rather mixed and on opposite ends, you either like it or you don't. I guess I'm the latter. The broth was too robustly flavoured for my palate (especially with the added sauce), too oily and too overpowering with the taste of garlic. Maybe I just don't like Hong Kong-style food all that much, just like in Starz Kitchen, and now here. Maybe I ordered the wrong noodle combination but I don't think I'd be trying any more noodle combinations.

Likes: Fresh broth, lots of great varieties for steam boat (sliced pork, beef, meat balls of all kinds, plenty of vegetable selections). The most important that they aced is the freshness of the food - I believe it's due to the high turnover rate so food is actually very fresh here. Dislikes: The slack side is they have great sauces but not available every time. When they are busy they won't prepare fried garlic for customers (what kind of logic is that...). And the be honest their service is not the best despite charging high prices for their food. They tend to hurry you to finish up your food because there are customers waiting. I couldn't be bothered because they should plan their reservations well and not shoo-ing your customers off... Your customers are entitled to enjoy their food, as this is not a mamak stall... It's a love hate thing for this place - I love it but their service makes me think twice.

If you're a fan of Hong Kong street food and you know your bank account doesn't allow you to fly to Hong Kong in a short period of time just for food, you might as well fix your cravings here at HK Boy Cart noodle, where authentic Hong Kong local food can be found!

So mostalgic and if you have been to Hong Kong, this is the place to relive your good memories there! 2. Taste wise, it is acceptable for both young and old. Not bad! 3. To be honest, the dishes come in really petite sizes— big eaters would probably need a few portions to fill the stomach. But looking at the price range, I have no complaints at all.

The servers advised us to go for a mixture of all soup and true enough, the flavor combo worked. It carried a subtle meatiness with a sleek sweetness. The touch of Beef broth was the soul of the dish (sorry to those who don't eat Beef, you don't know what you are missing); it was then round up with a dash of Chili paste.
