I liked the level of authenticity in its taste, which is robust and slightly heavier to the palate as well.

I had high expectations for Menya Sakura given the profile of its Head Chef. However, I found the ramen to be rather pedestrian and would probably not make a special trip down to have it again, though it certainly qualifies as one of the better dining options along Boat Quay.

I didn't like it at all. Perhaps to no surprise, the liver just didn't fit in with the rest of this bowl. The broth was mildly sweet, and it was annoyingly garnished with pine nuts too. I had to dump a lot of black pepper on this thing in order just to make it edible. No, I won't get this again.

They were so understaffed that I waited at least 30 minutes for that bowl above, and the restaurant wasn't even full. Worse, the noodles were too soft, and the karaage was stone cold, as if it'd been sitting around for perhaps the same 30 minutes...and weirdly using some kind of cereal flake rather than batter.

Lastly, we sampled two desserts and by then, we were pretty stuffed. It's not often that I see warabi mochi on the menu but they have it here at Boruto. Made of bracken starch, and coated with kinako powder. It has a wobbly soft-jelly like texture and sweetness from the sauce. Almost like eating water.

In overview, the service was impeccable right from the moment we enter up to the point we stepped out of the restaurant. It was obvious how much emphasis they place on keeping their customers happy, from the complimentary customised desserts to the "namecards" that were presented to each diner at the end of the meal to encourage repeat patronage. The total bill inclusive of GST and service charge was $58.85. Although we would have preferred a wider variety of hotpot ingredients for this price, they certainly made it up with quality. I don't know if the soup is really going to give me beautiful skin or not, but I am definitely returning irregardless.
