Clan Jetty in Penang is symbol of rich culture and heritage. It is situated along the eastern waterfront of George Town. Originally it was built as landing jetties by Chinese Hokkein immigrants in the 19th century. Each of these jetties is associated with different clans that can easily be identified by their family surnames. At its peak, there were over 20 clan jetties in the area; seven of which are standing to this day and are currently protected by the UNESCO listing since 2008.
