But in the evening, although the shop is closed, the shop rent its outdoor spaces to a Bak Kut Teh stall as well as the famous PJ Seapark "Bumbung Nasi Lemak"! Nasi Lemak, 6 ringgit. Man, this was delicious. The chicken sure was tasty. I received a thigh piece with plenty of meat on it. Yay! It sure was flavorsome, packed with spices. You’d literally feel/taste it with every bite. Their ‘sambal’ was different, yummy nonetheless. I noticed the regulars requesting an additional /top up for the sambal and yes, perhaps next time I will do the same with some extra kacang on the side too because it was hardly enough. It was not a case of them giving me little, nope, not at all, the case here is that it is yummy and tasty that you tend to pile on the sambal with each mouth. So, that explains why literally every table requested for an extra serving of sambal. The Nasi Lemak as a whole was delicious.

Firstly, we have to say that the fried chicken is one of a kind, something new which we’ve never tasted before. It was crispy and aromatic, as all fried chicken should. The unique part is its skin which almost tasted like muruku. Upon closer look we saw some Indian spices such as cumin and fennel seeds which explain the unique taste.

I received a BIG piece of tender, meaty chicken thigh that was soaked in salted egg sauce. Pasar Baru Restaurant

New World Petaling Jaya Hotel No. 1, Jalan SS7/26A Kelana Jaya 47301 Petaling Jaya Selangor, Malaysia

The flavourful melting pot that is Malaysian cuisine, renowned throughout Southeast Asia, is on show at Pasar Baru, a delightful and delicious celebration of the country’s delicious, authentic delicacies. Inspired by the fun and flavour of Malaysia’s lively street food markets, here guests can meander and pick and choose from live cooking stations serving up fresh-made Indian and Malay curries, Chinese wok stir-fries and Tandoori dishes. That is, if they can pull themselves away from the buffet and appetisers delivered fresh from the kitchen. Local-recipe drinks are the perfect accompaniment but the crowning glory has got to be the heaving dessert table, which of course has traditional cendol – a concoction of rice-flour noodles, palm sugar, coconut milk, shaved ice and sweetened red kidney beans – always on offer. While Pasar Baru salutes Malaysia’s many-cultured cuisine and food-obsessed lifestyle, it also serves Western favourites and makes for a charming breakfast setting. Traditional morning comfort foods, tasty side dishes and breakfast pastries, with rich coffee and aromatic teas selection, start everyone’s day off deliciously.

The Totally Tom Yum (RM 16.90) The Totally Tom Yum is one of our favourites where the chicken is perfectly deep fried till crispy and topped with the aromatic hint of light spiciness. This dish takes inspiration from three local Malaysian rice dishes, so you can expect to find elements from nasi lemak, nasi biryani and nasi kerabu. It's like a mini buffet on a plate as you get aromatic spiced rice along with a juicy fried chicken, sambal prawn, kerabu kacang botol, homemade sambal merah and hijau, salted egg, laksa soup and pappadom. I’ve been to several other eateries that goes a lil overboard on the spiciness – the kind that makes you sweat and drink lots of water, that was not the kind served here. 1957 Kopi+Makan is a cozy place to serve Malaysian food and with a twist of western food, it is located at De Centrum Mall right next to the IUKL. Surprise me that I found a hidden cafe at Kajang, I believe a food lover like you will definitely like it! Thanks to Aiyee for the invitation. Although it is far away from Petaling Jaya or Kuala Lumpur but trust me, it is definitely worth to drive all the way to Kajang. MUST go...YES is a MUST!!!

Verdict On a positive note we enjoyed the Prawn Mee here. It’s certainly one of the most authentic Penang-style Prawn Mee you can find in the Klang Valley. While the topping isn’t sufficient, you may opt to add extra prawns for an extra RM2. It is worth mentioning that Aik Prawn Mee also sells Assam Laksa which is highly raved among customers.

The asam laksa may seem like it came without the shrimp paste aka har gou, but in fact it was already mixed with the laksa. The asam laksa was sourish and savoury. It was minty with the mint leaves. It came with a few pieces of sardine fish. I personally prefer it a bit more spicy, but overall it was good.

A sip of the soup was more than enough for me to understand their popularity. It’s really good! Unlike Lim Mee Yoke’s, Aik’s prawn mee soup is properly strained to have a clean taste. Best of all, it’s not artificially sweetened and the chili paste really has potent kick. I was sweating furiously at the end of the meal.

We went to AK Noodles at Tropicana City Mall for lunch. I ordered prawns with vit noodles (instant noodles) at MYR 11.50+ (5% service charge making it MYR 12.07 nett). The portion is quite small so it is just the right amount for me. The prawns were fresh enough and I put the prawns with their shells into my mouth and spat out the shells later whereas my friend peeled off the shells of the prawns before putting them into her mouth.

Their Tofu Sambal was really good. Mildly sweet and spicy, the Tofu itself was fresh and as a total preparation, it was very tasty. Similarly, their Mashed Potato was another delight on it's own. If you have been following my blogs for a while, you would have noticed that I would always need to have some curry to go with my rice. Today, that was not necessary as the potato itself went so well with the rice. I would rate both of these at 8/10.
