Dry Char Siew Wantan Mee (Large), 8.60 ringgit. As for its taste, it tasted good. I do not like wantan noodles that are thick in size and thankfully, the ones served here are thin to medium. Soaked with kechup with about 8,9 relatively thick strips of pork meat. If you do not fancy pork meat for today, there is always chicken and fried dumpling meat to satisfy you.

Jojo's is a chain of noodles shops in Kuala Lumpur that specialises in pan mee (板麺), which translates into "flat flour noodles". This is a completely inadequate name that fails to encapsulate the glorious deliciousness that pan mee actually is. A symphony of taste and texture, pan mee is composed of seasoned pork mince, runny poached egg, fried anchovies (they call it ikan bilis), chili sambal, potato leaves and freshly made noodles. The result is one of the most addictive dishes I've ever eaten.

Verdict: Wonton noodles with the “cafe standard” price range, I’m quite happy with the portion as well as the food quality. Revisit? Yes, perhaps for their latest offering of ramen and desserts.

The original Cantonese Style Dried Noodles from Guangdong, China, uses ingredients such as lard, soy sauce or oyster sauce. When it arrives in Southeast Asia, it adapts to local taste: Northern Malaysian like it with a hint of dark soy sauce; Midland Malaysian with extra dark soy sauce; whereas Southern Malaysian love their noodles with tomatoes and chilli sauce. In Pontian, the little town located at the southern part of Johor, the locals love their Wonton noodles with tomatoes sauce and a splash of chilli sauce. They called it Red noodles or Dried noodles with tomatoes sauce, and it has since become a popular local speciality. At first, tomatoes sauce was added because the children love the sweet and sour taste in the noodle. As Southeast Asian like spicy food, so chilli sauce was experimented as well, and this innovative combination has brought a unique taste and style in world of Wonton Noodles. Pontian Wonton Noodle is a fusion of cross cultural ingredients: Chaozhou style fish balls sets in a bed of Cantonese style homemade Wonton egg noodles; mixed with Western tomatoes sauce, and infused with Southeast Asian spicy flavour chilli sauce - an ingenious blend of western and oriental food. Truth is the red chili sauce may look unappealing during the initial moment, nor the taste was not that impressive at the very first bite. However as you go for more noodles, a pleasant taste builds up, along with a nice aroma that tempted us to go more for the noodles. At the same time, we also tried Black Chili Wantan Mee with thicker noodles. It tasted like conventional wantan mee but with an added heat component. A great choice too.

We tried out their classic signature which is the Black Chili Wantan Mee @ RM7.90 small. That serve along with their homemade chili and give you a slight unique twist. Not your typical wan tan mee flavour that you could execpt however it is not too bad. Give you hint of mild spicy and sourness. Not too bad though. Worth to give it a try.

Many years ago, I would have told you to get out of here if you told me about mixing red chili sauce into wantan mee. As someone who hails from Penang, that concept was simply bizarre because we are so used to eating wantan mee with pickled chillies. But today, I would gladly eat it any day of the week. The thing is, you need to find “that” place that prepares this kind of wantan mee with respect it deserves. Otherwise you would find it repulsive and avoid it in future. For example, if you are a Japanese food virgin and you had your first Japanese meal at crappy Japanese buffet restaurant – I am sure you will think that Japanese food sucks. First impression matters a lot.
