Thean Chun is one of the must-visit places in Ipoh for breakfast and lunch. Our friends and even our newly made acquaintances from Ipoh all pointed us in that direction when we went on a food adventure with BabySumoKids.

Overall, it was a good breakfast. My choices would be their Caramel Custard and Chicken & Prawn Hor Fun. Definitely will drop by again for this.

Old Nam Heong is a good place for an old town Ipoh coffee shop experience - it is one of the pioneers of Ipoh white coffee and everything is still like it was in the beginning.

We also had the famed egg tarts - we had four in the shop and bought another pack of 6 (RM12 per box) to bring home for my parents. Best eaten when warm, the egg tarts were flaky and absolutely delicious.

Being a fan of Popiah, we decided to go for one each and it was priced at RM 5.00 for the platter. Both the Fried as well as the Wet Popiah was awesome. It has been a long time since I had a Popiah that was this good. 10/10 would be my rating for this. If you're at this coffee shop, their Popiah is a must try.

Do order their asam laksa here as well where they are really good too. The flavourful broth with the slurpilicious noodles are definitely well paired with their ytf. Addictively good .

The yong tau foo is nice, with several must try items (e.g. fish filled long beans and sar kok liew) not found in Singapore or Johor. Eating with locals under a big tree is a charming authentic foodie experience.

Most of the yong tau fu we had were decent but not really outstanding. The only item that was special enough to be memorable was the ‘sar kot’ (stuffed turnip) – mainly because it was my first time having it, and we don’t get this in KL. But then again, I get comments saying there are plenty of other places that make tastier ‘sar kot’.

Based on the tip given by a local, we tried stall 27 and 28. Both stalls seem to be owned by the same family so they don’t have any problem with us ordering from them. The reason I say this is because that there are unspoken seating rules you need to abide to.
