Was it great? Yea, undoubted. Would I come again? Only if someone else is paying and I haven't washed my hair as trust me, you'll end up smelling like a BBQ yourself after a meal there.
Secret Recipe Sausage (秘制香肠) – Recommend dish, this one has a robust pork flavour to it and tastes like 鲜润肠 “The Premium Chinese New Year Pork Sausage”.
We ordered some meat sliced and a bowl of Braised Pork rice, which is a MUST! After since I left Taiwan, I have always craving for their oily pork rice ! So yummy but sinful xD
Verdict: Overall it’s just a decent hotpot experience, the food and service was just average for us. I still prefer my usual steamboat places such as THIS (ღ˘⌣˘ღ). Revisit? Most probably not.
Two Pesos is a charming steamboat restaurant that started in SS2 and has since expanded into multiple locations in Klang Valley. Despite the ongoing challenges in F&B business, they are doing extremely well and their outlets are usually full house. Sometimes, you even need to queue to get in. Taiwanese style mini steamboat is Two Pesos’ specialty, where each diner gets his or her own pot to cook the food with. There are more than a dozen of choices and it’s not limited to hot pot only, as stone grill options are available too.
Two Pesos also take pride in their condiments. You can try all their sauces but you may want to try their sacha and bean paste or the sacha, garlic and chili sauce combi, the perfect match sauce.
What do We Like about Fong Lye Coffee & Teahouse One Utama? -Many set meals to choose from -The foods were delicious and worth the price we paid
Din Tai Fung’s xiao long bao was juicy as usual. Taste elevated when paired with ginger and the vinegar sauce. The pork chop was huge and thick, flavorful as well. The fried rice was perfect, full of wok hei. The spicy sour noodle’s texture was firm and springy, I would call it ‘crunchy’ and I liked that texture. It would be good if the sourness could be more.
Overall we like both the yam pastry mooncake and the yam swiss roll. Definitely going back to RT for more.
Soft vanilla sponge along with a refreshing strawberry just melts in the mouth. It goes perfectly well with the Masala Chai, damn perfect combo!! Strawberry Season Cake @ RM 38
What do We Like about DayOne DayOne 小时光 SS 2? -Great variety of set meals to choose from -Reasonably priced for the set meals that come with side dishes -Comfortable dining environment
Verdict: It's ABSOLUTELY SUPER SPICY without a doubt! If you can't take spicy food, I will recommend you to avoid this but if you love spicy food and the usual cili padi consumption doesn't give you the kick anymore, then you gotta try this. The popcorn chicken's taste before adding the powder was delicious on its own. Then, I poured in the entire packet of powder and I truly regretted my decision. My tongue was burning hot and it's numb due to the mala ingredient. The Alkaline water saves the day... trust me, you'll need it. Overall, it's delicious and definitely a flame blowing experience for me. Go ahead and try it out yourself.
Overall comment: Simple & satisfying Taiwanese street snack for people on the go :) Halal: Yes
You know what? I thought it was pretty good. The seasonings were just right (flavorful and not too salty) and I found this braised pork dish very much to my liking. It is something that I'd like to eat again.
What do We Like about Taiwan Braised Pork Rice & Dessert? -Many variety of Taiwanese dishes
My teriyaki pork chop was not bad at all.
I loved everything in my bowl. The braised minced pork was flavorful and tasty and so were the sliced Taiwanese sausage. The pickled cabbage perked up my tastebuds with its sweet and tangy flavor.
Chicken Drumstick in a Bun at MYR 6.90+ (6% SST = MYR 7.31 nett). Sounds fun to eat so bought two to try. The end of the chicken drumstick is wrapped in aluminium foil and it juts out from the bun. You can also see the drumstick from the other end of the bun. It is nice as the bun tastes of herbs, the chicken drumstick meat is tender and you know that it is chicken meat that you are getting since a whole complete drumstick on the bone is in the bun.
♥Verdict: The food was generally decent with rather wallet friendly price tag. All in all, it’s quite a good option if you’re looking for a place for lunch/dinner in the mall.
My friend's braised chicken drumstick with rice at MYR 17.90+ (MYR 18.97 nett). She finished the whole bowl before I was halfway through my meal because she says that it is tasty and she was hungry.
This friend ordered Soy Stewed Pork with Rice at MYR 16.9+ (6% SST = MYR 17.91 nett) despite me pointing it out to her that this is pork belly since I know that she does not eat the fatty parts. She said it is ok she would just remove those parts which she did painstakingly. She removed the skins and all the fatty layers leaving only very little lean meat but she was satisfied with her choice. There is a piece of dried pork skin (like those served with chee cheong fun) in her bowl which she gave to me.
Continuing from yesterday's lunch story, I ordered the signature ice dessert at MYR 13+ (6% SST = MYR 13.78 nett). You can see the default 5 toppings in the photo above, clockwise from the top: grass jelly, jelly ai yu, tapioca pearls, taro and sweet potatoes balls. I like all the toppings including the tapioca pearls because they are soft, just like jelly unlike other places that serve tapioca pearls that can be hard to chew because they are too springy. Ai yu jelly is made from seeds of the fruit of the creeping fig plant (Ficus pumila var. awkeotsang). You can read how Ai yu Jelly is made from this wiki article.
Verdict: Definitely hits and misses on food, but overall I still willing to revisit as the food is quite suit my taste bud (based on my few visits). Oh ya, reminder to all, Fong Lye only accept cash payment, so prepare enough cash if you plan to dine in here. ^__*
Very nice Taiwanese Pork bun, especially great with that semi-fat+pork meat!
Beef Stew cooked and served just at the right timing succulent meat still remain juicy tender while radish is well soaked with essences of the stew, overall texture was smooth yet flavourful. This Taiwanese Beef Stew tastes differently compared to the Vietnamese version where it has an extra spices flavour in it.
Nothing like a warm bowl of gooey goodness in the middle of the day! The version here is topped with lots of shredded chicken, parsley and a localised ingredient you won’t find in Taiwan – a big dollop of sambal. Nothing to complain about here – the oysters were sizable and fresh, and the broth was nice and savoury.
We started off with the main dish in Taste of Taiwan, Lu Rou Rice (RM9.90). This dish was served in a metal bento box which made the whole presentation looked very Taiwanese. Loaded with aromatic minced meat, braised egg, pickles, steamed beans, shredded carrot, and tofu skin, the Lu Rou Rice is the best seller in amongst students and working class people in the neighbourhood, mainly because of its affordability. Despite the affordable price tag, the Lu Rou Rice holds up in terms of quality. Only Japanese rice is used for this and every other rice dish. Hence, the rice is fluffier and softer in the mouth. Taste wise, the minced meat was well marinated and seasoned, very flavourful in every bite.
Verdict: 1. The decade-old traditional home-cooked Taiwanese recipe here is surely the winning factor of this restaurant. 2. I personally love the authentic and healthy taste of Taiwan here that literally transports me to Taipei :) 3. In fact, the menu here has a lot more items that you can explore. I will definitely be back to try the Japanese Omu Rice and 3 Cup Chicken Rice.
Anyway, no complaints on the tasty 烤排骨饭 Roasted Pork Rib Rice!
Mini CharSiew Rice - MYR 6.80 nett. I suspect the mini refers to the tiny cubes of BBQ pork belly instead of the rice bowl because there is a lot of rice. It includes a free drink which my friend says is Jasmine tea and she mentioned that it is very sweet so I did not drink it but left it on the table.
In addition to these classic delicious desktop cuisine, there is also the same food that must eat in Taiwan's spicy noodle house -- Spicy Noodles! Almost daily bestseller yo! And this spicy noodle is divided into ordinary spicy and super spicy.
Overall, it was a good dinner for me. The Spicy Noodle was delicious and excellent service. Second Visit? A big YES for me. I just love their Spicy Noodle.
Not too sure how many decent Taiwan food we have in Klang Valley. One of my frequent visit outlet over past 2 years is Taipei Taipei. One of a restaurant that been serving quite consistent Taiwanese food.
