What do We Like about Thai Hou Sek, One Utama? -The delicious fusion Thai foods. The clear tom yum soup was nicely done -The value set meal was indeed value for the money -Comfortable dining environment
Also ordered one of their bestsellers: Siu Yuk Tom Yum. The dish is good enough for 2-3 people, and comes loaded with chunks of roast pork and juicy mushrooms. The soup is everything a good tom yum should be: sour and appetising, great with rice, and spicy with a kick.
Siu Yuk fried rice at MYR 19+ (MYR 20.14 nett). The siu yuk rind is crispy but some may find the meat to be on the dry side.
My friend suggested that we eat at Johnny Restaurant at One Utama for lunch. I have been to Johnny Restaurant in Bukit Bintang Plaza many, many years ago
The taste of the food still tasted like how they were years ago. I remembered I do still frequent them during my college days at the Alpha Angle Shopping Centre. My last visit, I guess was somewhere around in the mid of 2008. However, something worth mentioning is that, they have not raised their price since my college days. Isn't that amazing? Atmosphere: 5/10 Food: 6/10 Price: 7/10 Verdict: Be sure to indulge in to their decent desserts at a very reasonable price!
Pad Thai (RM 12.90) I tried their pad thai which is beautifully fried with the fresh ingredients. The taste comes perfectly good but it is slightly too wet for me. I prefer the pad thai with a more dryer version.
Back in August 2015, we ordered this Fish Thai Laksa at MYR 12.90++ (5% service charge and 6% GST = MYR 14.36 nett) at Old Siam eatery, One Utama and the price is still the same when I ate this a few days ago. Those are all the fish cubes from the fish curry. The curry is creamy but I find it a bit too salty and would prefer to be less salty.
Verdict: Offer reasonably priced quick meal such as one dish item and noodle , indeed not a bad choice in a shopping mall.
In conclusion, our visit to Laem Charoen Thai Seafood at 1 Utama was a good one. The green sauce left a lasting impression. If you’re seeking an affordable and delectable Thai dining experience, Laem Charoen Thai Seafood is a solid choice for a satisfying meal.
Nonetheless my RM14 tom yum noodles was acceptable as the portion of noodles was generous and the bowl included half an egg, a medium sized prawn, 3 squid rings and copious amount of oyster mushrooms. I believe the noodles are imported and no doubt substantial effort was required to prepare the deliciously piquant broth which leaned more towards the sourish side versus spicy.
What we enjoyed most from their menu is the Thai Iced Tea or ‘Chai Yen’. This is the same as the ‘Chai yen’ from Thailand as the cook and one of the owner is Thai.
Spicy Glass Noodle with Seafood (RM25) For those who love some kick of spiciness, grab this spicy glass noodles which is packed with kick of spiciness and topped with the fresh scallops, squids and juicy prawns.
Seafood Tom Yum was delicious as usual that both of us loved it. Small Seafood Tom Yum Soup @ RM 40
Slurps up your meal with the hot slurpy noodles. I am in love with the Thai Soba with Clear Smokey Soup. The bowl of hearty pipping hot soup, with generous ingredient and the pork ribs in it. I am in love with the noodles which make the dish even perfect. The soup comes simply flavourful and filled with the aromatic herbs in it. Nicely done. Sides with a bowl of green salad and fruits at the sides.
One must not forego their desserts of course! Mango Sticky Rice with Pandan Ice Cream & Coconut Cendol Ice Cream are the musts!
