Opening hourFrom April 10, the route opens partially (Tateyama Sta – Midagahara and Murodo – Ogizawa). The entire route is open from Apr 16 until the end of Nov. (in the case of 2013)
The route is closed from Dec until early-April.
Murodo Snow Corridor (7-20m of snow wall): Impressive views can be seen just after the road is opened at the end of April until May. After June the walls of snow become shorter but some snow remains even in August.

The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine (pronounced “Alpen”) Route is known as the “Roof of Japan”. The route passes through the dynamic scenery of Mt. Tateyama in the Japan Alps. It is traversed using a variety of vehicles with an elevation change of 2400 meters from Toyama Prefecture to Nagano Prefecture.
