It's not ideal to visit here - Foreigner are charged 400 baht vs the local 40 baht - Can't explore the place using public transport, you have to hire a car or book a tour from hotels - The place is huge, thus a lot of travel time: entrance to visitor centre is 20km, from visitor center to other attractions are probably another 20km - The most notable attraction are waterfalls and scenic view points - We tried the 4km/2h trail, though it's marked, but sometimes you bump into junction with no sign whatever. We didn't get lost: either we are lucky or both paths work, I am not sure. The scenery is alright, especially the grassland, no animal spotted from the observation tower.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that there is no public transport operating inside Khao Yai National Park. Unless you have a private vehicle and want to enter through the little-used southern gate, you’ll want to approach the park via the northern gateway of Pak Chong with its train, bus and minibus connections to Bangkok, Ayutthaya, Khorat and several other places. Just don’t expect to show up and find English-speaking travel agents ready to take your hand. If you want to make things as easy as possible, arrange for an all-in company like Greenleaf, Garden Lodge or Bobby’s to pick you up in Pak Chong and whisk you straight to their own accommodation and tours.

Day one: arrive in park, drive to visitor center, enjoy visitor center, do hike #1 around the visitor center, have lunch, then do hike #2 to Haew Suwat. Take a night safari in the evening. Day two: Hire a ranger for an early morning trek around Nong Pak Chi Observation Tower – hike #3 or #5 or both – followed by lunch at the campsite. Drive to the park’s southern highlights (Haew Narok waterfall, Pha Diew Die Viewpoint, spirit house). Day three: Do an early morning hike #4 if you want one last taste of nature before departing. You also may wish to add a night in Mu Si or Pak Chong before or after in order to see the bats of Khao Luk Chang Bat Cave, which sits 3.7 miles (6km) north of the park boundaries.

Beside the cafe and restaurants inside the complex, you can even find many restaurants outside just in case the ones inside don’t interest you. Overall, our visit to PALIO was short yet memorable. For me, Klong San is very similar to Wang Lang Market. These two markets are located on the Chao Phraya River banks on Thonburi side, sell cheap products, do not have so many tourists, and have many delicious street food stalls. While most of the stalls at Wang Lang Market open until 17.00, stalls at Klong San open longer until 22.00. So, you can plan to visit Klong San at night or in the evening. If you want to see the ‘real’ market in Bangkok, I do recommend you to visit either Klong San Market or Wang Lang Market.
