Besides experience haggle shopping at the market, the street itself is fairly charming with many old shops. You can sample some street food, street arts, visit cafes and temples.
Some of my closest friends decided to play tourists in KL Chinatown during the recent holidays and well… as to be expected or is it a surprise, almost all of them (we are all staying in Klang Valley – KL and Selangor) confessed to not being here in ages…
Chinatown’s Petaling Street is one of KL’s popular tourist destinations. This is the place for you to shop for anything from t-shirts, souvenirs, shoes, bags and perfumes. There are a great selection of Chinese food to eat here at Chinatown. So, be sure to visit Petaling Street with an empty stomach.

总的来说, 他们家的料理都是偏重口味的, 喜欢重口味的朋友应该会觉得他们家的料理不错吃, 但喜欢较淡口味的朋友可能就会觉得有点腻~
Famous for beef noodle, which is pretty good. They will give you the large portion by default, so you need ask for small portion. The Fried Kway Teow is okay as well. Seems like the famous lala..
Verdict: The beef noodles has been built up a stellar reputation for years and and it is indeed famous for a reason – they know their food well and prove themselves noteworthy.
Unexpectedly, the roasted meat we ordered taste quite good, in particularly the char siew as the meat is juicy with the right level of sweetness.
Overall, I had a pleasant staycation and their hospitality are warm, plus food is good too. For those who are planning for a staycation in the city and wish to explore KL city tourist spots, I would recommend this hotel.

There is a 20 minutes queue on Friday 9AM. Just take a number and have a stroll at the Kwai Chai Hong next door. The dried curry chicken (RM 12.90) and Curry Chee Cheong Fun (RM 5.80) is pretty..
HO KOW HAINAM KOPITIAM since 1956
Overall, it is good food at Ho Kow Hainam Kopitiam Jalan Balai. Is it worth the long queue? Well, if you enjoy local food, great kaya butter toast and a cuppa of Cham, it is worth the queue. Don’t expect extra ordinary food but comfort food at Ho Kow Hainam Kopitiam Jalan Balai.
There are many question marks after our visit to Restoran Kim Lian Kee Hokkien Mee Petaling Street. My parents were disappointed with the quality and taste of the noodles as they have been here many times. We all know they will be a century old and we sincerely hope that they can maintain their quality of the food and service. We don’t mind paying more due to their touristy location but at least the food is up to their brand name.
The best item that we ordered (the bro agrees) was the fried chicken wings. They came in a set of three pieces, freshly fried and still piping hot. The chicken was marinated well and had great flavour, the insides were juicy, and the skin was crispy.
A hearty meal that is a staple for most local Chinese families, the Hokkien mee RM9.50 is presented on a banana leaf-lined plate and is ultra-popular largely because of oodles of prawns, pork, squid and generous helpings of lard fritters. The mee is thoroughly enjoyable on its own but for locals, the canister of sambal belacan on each table is one of Restoran Kim Lian Kee’s primary attractions (our personal favourite as well)! 😉
A small photo spot. Fairly interesting if you enjoy posing with the props and deco to capture a few photos.

Overall, penginapan di sini adalah di tahap terbaik.
Overall was not bad except for the service. Do not expect top notch service here.
Verdict: A solid bowl of beef noodles, and I can see why people have been flocking to the place for decades. It’s hearty, it’s comforting, and it’s substantial. Most impressive were the beef balls, which were so springy you can practically use them as ping pong balls – not a trace of tendon or whatnot left. The noodles were al dente and slathered in the savoury meat sauce.
We ordered Beef Mix Noodles (牛杂肉丸) RM10.00 that serves with a bowl of rice noodles (grounded beef as toppings) and a bowl of soup with assorted beef parts in it. The beef was tender and juicy, soup or broth was clear yet very rich in taste, overall taste like having a bowl of Bakso (Indonesian Beef Noodles) instead of the Pho Bo (Vietnamese Beef Noodles) that dashes some extra leaves and limes as flavouring.

Since it is highly customizable, so I choose Pan Seared Salmon as my main dish and opt for Kon Loh noodles with 2 desserts, the Carrot Cake with Toffee Sauce and Egg Tart. Well, you can really taste the freshness of the salmon fish, it can feel the juiciness of its in every bite and most importantly, I don't find any bones in it. Good to go for me!

Overall, I liked this establishment alot. It has a quirky and interesting vibe to it. The food is funny, in a good way, and for the prices that you pay, its some real bang for your buck.
On a personal Burnt Cheese Cake (RM 16) is dessert that we found it to be special. We were told it was a housemade, and the definition burnt introduced a slight pleasant caramelized taste into the rich and dense cheese cake. A piece of wonder to enjoy. It is noted half of the cake was grabbed by customers when it is being put on selling tray.
Order South China Sea as it seems crowds favorite @ RM 36. Serve with 63 degree poached egg, housemade hash and salsa. Quite a huge chunk of salmon that is serve, looks great in the picture. It is under season, quite pale in flavour and overcook too. Mix of salsa is a bit confusing, filled with apple, capsicum and the fried hash that looks like being fried in a long serving oil that gives such colour and quite at the base plate. I try to finish my salmon, and I guess I gave up along the way. Turns out to be quite disappointing.
