Overall, my experience at the Thomson outlet wasn’t the best but it also wasn’t the worst. Most importantly, I can see how hard the staff is working especially the aunties who are pushing the carts or trying to sit the customers.
In recent months, I had an insatiable craving for dim sum and thought a buffet format, with unlimited indulgence would make me swear off the...
Those of you who are familiar with the old Peach Garden at Thomson Plaza would be impressed with their new facelift.
Chicken Rice Takeaway, Char Siew and Dumplings
The good thing is I liked it more than the way I described it last time, as the broth was actually delicate and savory, and the chicken was nice and moist.
Also recommended is the Beef Fried Rice ($5.00). It's greasy, but not soggy. The rice grains are likewise distinct and isolated from one another. Here you'll find beef, egg, and crunchy bean sprouts. The beef pieces are tender and cooked thoroughly.
seafood horn was very good…wokhae quite excellent, considering tapao…and a lot of ingredients..would be better even if eating at the stall…
That being said, based on personal experience, the quality here varies greatly.
The Signature Crispy Chao Ta Bee Hoon with Seafood was really nice, crispy and dry outside, moist and flavourful inside, with serious wok hei.
Crown Prince Kitchenette is tucked away in United Square and a tad difficult to find. The JB style Fried Bee Hoon, or Chao Ta Bee Hoon, is one of its signature dishes. It wasn’t bad, crispy and wit…
Overall, the dishes are quite well done but on the salty side which we gave feedback to the chef as well. After the rebranding and revamp of the menu, I’m not sure if the dishes taste different.
I get a good craving for Crispy Pork at times, and instead of Siew Yoke, I crave for Lechon.
There is only one thing you should order at Lechon Republic. It’s lechon.
The pork here was tender, juicy and fragrant, and had some nice fats accompanying. The skin was a nice flaky crisp, and full of fragrance as well. The sauce was mild and sweet, and went well with the unctuous pork.
The avocado wasabi burger is nicely done.
It is not hard to understand the popularity of Kamome Bakery. Its breads are good. The prices are very reasonable.
I’m tempted to head back down for some soft jazz music and warm coffee. Perhaps I’ll even grab a loaf of Hokkaido milk toast on my way out.
A food blog from a Singapore-based traveler
It's nothing that I'll be rushing back for, but nonetheless the minced meat, cabbage, and potatoes went into my belly pretty quickly.
Despite this small letdown, the meal was still a solid one that I would highly recommend to anyone in the area. Prawnography is undoubtedly a must-visit spot for Hokkien mee lovers, especially for those who enjoy a variety of seafood and meat in their dishes.
This place didn't look very convincing when they first opened, so I never went in (273 Thomson Road #01-03A, 8686-9777).
Maybe one day I should come back to try their stew and colcannon instead.
Duckland serves their roast duck with raspberry jam, sriracha, and mustard, but we very much preferred just having it with the gravy made from the duck drippings.
Duckland Restaurant is a neat and practical place.
Lao Beijing Restaurant Review of dinner at Novena Square with pictures of menu, Mermaid fish, 美人鱼, Peking duck, dim sum ...
surprisingly lamb rack was very good.
This place (175 Thomson Road #01-175, 6258-1391) made for a convenient dinner tonight. We grabbed a portion of chadolbagi and LA kalbi, the former of which fared much better than the latter.
There are many combinations you could create, and this mix of cucumber, seaweed salad, salmon and pineapple kind of work for me, it is mix of sweet, fruity and refreshing flavours balanced with the savoury, thus not too heavy on the palate.
The flavours of sweet savoury sour nutty vegetal tangy spicy are complex and layered, with a lingering heat on the palate. Good!
The impression of Poke Lulu was too similar to Aloha Poke. Especially with their format of ordering and flavour. After all, not a bad choice but if they could have an uniqueness, it would have been better.
Ramen Lovers, Rejoice! 🍜🎉 Try their signature Tonkotsu Ramen – a rich, creamy broth infused with savory goodness, topped with an array of delectable toppings to tantalize your taste buds.
The black sauce was decently smoky and spicy, and the egg was pleasantly savory. The food here is a little better than its plasticky outward appearance suggests.
This ramen shop didn't look very promising from the outside (101 Thomson Road #B1-04, 6015-0363), so I figured that it wouldn't be any good.
While A-Roy Thai is generally priced higher, I find the dishes mostly of decent quality for a Thai family-style meal. I am also sure many regulars would have missed its food.
Shanghai Tan specializes in 生煎包 and 小笼包, two things I love.
Simple Korean Food is perfect for me. Especially when it’s Sundubu, Beef Bulgogi Rice and Seafood Pancake with Banchan.
I kinda liked it, although it was basically just tons of salt, MSG, and chili (BTW, the spiciest option isn't very spicy). OK, they topped it up with some sliced beef too. This was from a random shop at Velocity@Novena Square called Hana K-Food (238 Thomson Road #02-25).

One of the lesser-known brands is So Ramen a local brand by the breadtalk group.
Sō Ramen is ringing in their second birthday with eye-popping 1-for-1 ramen deals in the month of April, available for any ramen on their menu.
Actually, what impressed me more was the ginger sauce. Why? It was basically sitting in sesame oil.
So even though the brown sauce on the chicken was a little sweet, I could cover it up with that fragrant ginger and sesame oil. Plus, the chili sauce was respectable, and the rice was firm and fluffy too. The ginger is the main selling point for me either way.
It is really good to see young hawkerpreneurs who are willing to take a traditional recipe, innovate and make it even better. This 25 year old’s chicken rice can easily rival some of the best ones which has been around for longer than he has!
The Clueless Goat Cafe is cosy and serves nice food and good coffee. We like their friendly service and value for money pricing.
The eatery has much more to offer than just criminally cheap sushi.
Kazoku Japanese Cuisine isn’t going to offer you mind-blowingly amazing Japanese food. Some of the rice bowls can be tweaked for a more cohesive taste and consistent quality.
