Overall, the ingredients were very fresh and did not taste like it was laden with MSG. The price of the add-ons is slightly more expensive compared to the other restaurants offering steamboat in Cameron but I feel the quality does justify the price tag.
Located at Tringkap area’s main roadside lies a Water Cress Farm well known for its natural farming, spectacular scenery, and delicious styles of watercress cooking.
Overall, the food at Water Cress Valley is fairly tasty and fresh. Nevertheless, I think the main appeal lies in the nice scenery that the restaurant offers. Water Cress Valley also serves stir-fried (煮炒) Chinese dishes, but we do not have the stomach capacity to taste any dishes this round.
Water Cress Valley, like the menu stated, is both a farm and a restaurant. Right beneath the semi-alfresco (the only way to dine in Cameron Highland) is a beautiful water cress farm. I suppose the water cress served here at this restaurant is right from the farm, and other vegetables most likely from the highland as well, but I’m just guessing.

We ordered stewed emperor noodles and stewed handmade noodles with mushroom with a thumb up sign (meaning recommended by the restaurant). We also ordered a herbal egg and soup. Both also disappointing. It was too salty to our palate. I suspect they use a lot of MSG flavouring. The herbal egg also not as tasty as those sold in Purple Cane.
The joyous moment during a trip to Cameron Highlands will be a steamboat dinner. Nothing beats the warmth from the steamboat in the chilly night, plus a group of friends and family may leverage the steamboat night and full it with fun and laughter. Seeing this is a great business opportunity, steamboat restaurant had since blossomed in Cameron Highlands.
餐的地方就在高高搭出的露台,一眼望去绿油油一片,底下是一格格的西洋菜园,空气无比凉爽,空间宽敞,感觉很舒畅。
The restaurant is perched on hill top and we were lucky to be seated at one of the table next to the grill overlooking the watercress farm and the green hills. The cooling weather and natural breeze definitely earn extra brownie points for the dining experience.
Cameron Highlands, as usual, well known for its plantations and farms and agriculture activities, has a lot of farms and valleys and gardens for us to visit to. One of the unique ones would be the Watercress Valley (西洋菜谷), which we visited on the first day of our visit. It can be easily spotted if you are travelling from Brinchang to Boh Tea Plantation / Lavender Garden, as you will see it on the right hand side. It is also nearby the Ee Feng Gu Bee Farm.
