If you happen to be shopping with friends, you might get to enjoy even cheaper price tags just by sharing! So my tip is to look out for incredible promotions and especially those one-for-one!

I don't really fancy historical building, but the night visit event is quite interesting. Night event start at 7pm for a limited period during September and October. There is a 500 tickets limit per day for foreigner, but we have no problem securing a ticket on weekday night. Some people wore Hanbok (traditional korean costume) and take lots of photo at the palace. There is also a 15 minutes light show at the pavilion, which is quite colourful. The night view is an interesting experience, seeing people wore Hanbok make the place more lively (we realize later you can rent Hanbok at Insadong shop for 15000won).

Yeonnam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea

The network of charming alleyways of Yeonnam-dong, in eastern Seoul, is Seoul’s latest hot spot, with shopkeepers and restaurateurs taking advantage of the neighborhood’s low rent, compared to that of the nearby Hongdae or Sinchon areas, to open hip, independent eateries and shops. It is best to drop by in the early evening to enjoy the lively atmosphere on the busy streets and inside the numerous restaurants and shops. Highlights include the Pinocchio bookstore and Coffee Libre.

A stone's throw away from Hongdae lies Yeonnam-dong. It is a quiet, sleepy residential area that also houses a burgeoning restaurant, cafe, guesthouse, and independent shopping scene. Most of the restaurants and shops are non-franchise. At present, it strikes a perfect balance. Businesses have popped up, but they have been built in a way that maintains and even enhances the old-school character of Yeonnam-dong. Whether this will be the case in five years is irrelevant. At the moment, Yeonnam-dong may just be the best place to spend an afternoon or evening in Seoul.
