It’s not surprising then that Zao Lek sees a strong crowd every evening. We strongly encourage making a reservation in advance, especially if you’re coming in a group larger than four people – we saw groups being turned away though it was still early in the evening.
Zao lek served the best Lok Lok in Singapore and even taste much nicer than in Malaysia! Sometime I find Malaysia Lok Lok. is quite unhygienic! I will definitely recommend it to my friends/family/colleagues. Will be back again for more of the goodness.
Yet none can beat Zaolek Lok Lok in terms of price and authenticity, especially when the ambience is considered. Located on the ground floor of the Paya Lebar Kovan Community Club, Zaolek doesn’t pretend to be a full-service restaurant: it is not air-conditioned; the joint is often filled with smoke; most surfaces in this eating place are almost certainly greasy.
All in all, the selections of skewers (>50 types) was ample. Ingredients were fresh. Plenty of dipping sauce choices – I’m sure you can easily find one that you like. Out of the 3 types of lok lok, I would say the fried one is the most outstanding because it’s nicely executed and the seasoning powder is tasty.
