Here are a few restaurants in Tanjung Rhu that you can try for breakfast, lunch, snack or dinner. All of them are within walking distance from Tanjung Rhu Beach so you can leave the stress of driving behind.
Driving around Langkawi is a very enjoyable experience. Though the roads are small, they are quite smooth and the traffic is seldom too heavy. Most of the places of interest are well connected with tar-sealed roads, and being a small island you are never too far from any where.
When the construction of this guard house started sometime this month, I was wondering of its purpose there. It was setup by Tanjung Rhu Resort at the exit junction of the resort. But, why was it built at the exit junction?
Today is the day Cow Cow and his girlfriend arrive. I picked them up at the airport at 8.30AM, and they are able to straight away check in at Four Points! Damned! Trying to go to the cable car as early as possible, we head straight to Oriental Village, thinking that we can find something…

We had 2 days to choose for the Cable Car ride on this trip to Langkawi, because it's to avoid the bad weather. Fortunately, the 2nd day was a bright sunny day!

I heard and read that there are seven waterfalls. Each of them flows from one pool to another with the last one rushes 90 meters down into the final pool.
If you’re staying in Tanjung Rhu, the mangrove walk at Kilim Geoforest Park could be a good activity to kill an hour or so when it’s raining or before your next mealtime. It’s not strenuous and you can wander at your own pace without the park staff hounding you. The Grab fare from Tanjung Rhu to Kilim Geoforest Park is only about RM10 and the drive is 15 minutes or less. It’s not worth it to come all the way here just for the Mangrove Sanctuary if your hotel is across the island. However, if you’re already going to be at the Kilim Geoforest Park for a mangrove tour, the Mangrove Sanctuary is worth a visit after your tour.
Overall, I would probably say I would have preferred to have spent the bat cave money on more eagle food, and to have spent more time watching those lovely birds. However it was interesting to do a few things and break up the time a bit. I’m sure I’ll head back in future, and we might take a longer trip at that time.

Less than 15 minutes away from Telaga Harbor Marina, not many would have guessed that Oriental Village Langkawi is the gateway to one of the most visited geoparks - Machinchang Cable Car Trail! Housing Langkawi Cable Cars base station, it is also the home to eateries, adventure kiosk, spa, souvenir shops, duty free retailers and a wonderful green world.
Synonymous with a modern civilization amidst of green jungle, this is the best description of Langkawi Oriental Village. Trust me, it has nothing to do with cultural neither a heritage village nor even anything close. And there is no admission fee charged to enter into the premise of Oriental Village. Having that said, this little gem serves as the gateway to Langkawi Cable Car, taking one to the famous Mt Machinchang Trail at which is accredited in the list of UNESCO Geopark.

During my Langkawi trip, there were several packages offered by the local agencies once we stepped into the airport. E.g; Island Tour, Mangrove Tour/Geopark Cruise, Island Hopping, Yachting/ Fishing Trip and Pulau Payar Marine Park (Snorkeling). Each comes with different price of course. However, we decided to get the package of Pulau Payar Marine Park…
The last part of the museum was more impressive as the wall arts were so large and as high as 2 floors. Well, I will not elaborate further on how amazing is this place. You should come yourself to see it :)
Surfing! As the name 3D suggests, the one over hundred pictures / paintings would result in an interactive experience that can be extremely fun if you have friends / family members who are spontaneous, full of expression and not shy!
Perched on a platform overlooking the bay, the impressive 12-meter tall sculpture looked like it was ready to take off and soar above the skies of Langkawi! Initially, i was hesitant to visit as i felt it was an over-hyped man-made tourist attraction and time could be spent elsewhere. Thankfully, we did as the sculpture is the iconic symbol for Langkawi and best of all, admission was free!
Langkawi island – the mythical island north of Penang, offers plenty to do. On our recent family vacation, we managed to visit historical sites, new tourist spots, fed the Eagles, had delicious seafood dinners; we even made educational visits to places like Laman Padi (rice garden), Buffalo Park, & LASSie animal shelter.
Not gonna lie, people who care deeply about animal rights might find this park depressing. Except for the Aviary birds, many of the animals were in cages and pens that looked too small. The raccoon that was on display for “cuddle time” was either very lazy or drugged. The guinea pigs in the Small Mammals section were especially troubling. I’m no animal psychologist, but the majority of them seemed terrified by the alpha and a couple of them had painful looking open wounds.
We then headed back up the elevator, and back down the mountain, where we got to exit via the very large gift shop. In future, I don’t think I would be hugely up for the cable car ride again, but I might check out some of the other attractions and update this.
Even though it’s in the middle of nowhere and the outside looks very underwhelming, this was a much higher quality attraction than I expected. The shows started on time and with a good, educational emcee. The creatures looked well-fed and healthy. Even the cafe was clean with quality menus that didn’t look depressing and faded.
A Fu Manchu fish, so called because of the tiny ‘moustache’ it has on its face. It showed me its butt when I tried to take a photo.
One of the top attractions in Langkawi is Mahsuri's Tomb (Makam Mahsuri). I never thought that her graveyard has become like a museum and surrounded by all the buildings. The entrance ticket for an adult was RM12. It was pricey for me. What do you think?
Allure of food everywhere! Don't bother about having your meals in restaurants at the touristy areas as you would have a higher rate of success (for delicious food) at the night market! However, hygiene is always a question mark and if your stomach can take it, go ahead and try!
