As the name implies, the restaurant specializes in assam laksa.
Overall the taste comes pretty good and we love the tender juicy chicken meat which comes addictively good.
Here's the location.
Worth more a than a try and we definitely will go back more than once hehe.
Though the selections are vast but most people could not run away from picking the regular dishes such as fried chicken, ayam ros, telur bawang, kambing kurma or beef. Then request for a kuah banjir and the server will skillfully mix the rice with different types of curry that yield an amazing aroma.
Meet Up brews coffee beans from Catunambú, a coffee roaster from Spain.
There were not much left for the Ice Cream Cakes, we went for their Longevity- a combination between Matcha and Sesame Ice Cream with a touch of citrusy elements like Yuzu. The icy treat was well-balanced in terms of sweetness and it was multi-dimensional. We were afraid that the outer layer (White Chocolate) might be too sweet for us but when enjoyed with the Ice Cream, it turned out to be perfectly fine.
It's a China Bubble Milk Tea brand that owned more than 500 stores in China.
Our favorites are braised pork and onion small prawns. It spiced the plain porridge, allowing you enjoy the original taste of each of the dish.
For main, we had a piece of Black Angus Ribeye and a couple of their homemade Sausages (with complimentary stir fried greens). The Ribeye was carefully cooked to the right doneness. It was not seasoned but sea salt and Dijon Mustard were given along with the serving of Ribeye. We enjoyed the Ribeye very much but would have enjoyed it more if the meat could be served in a thicker manner (for a meatier bite).
Here's location.
The taste is good, the mango taste like it is made from fresh mango fruits.
Xing Fu Tang is located in one of the prettiest heritage buildings in George Town.
The Siam Laksa may sound expensive at first but it comes in a generous portion with various toppings. The broth was creamy rich and packed a spicy punch. The use of Chinese Pickled Mustard was unusual here but the combination worked... offering an acidic-salty crunch to the dish.
The Asam Laksa is awesomely good. We love the asam laksa so much and we ordered another bowl of it. The asam laksa comes with the light sourish blend not overpowering and yet the broth is thick. You can find generous portion of mackerel fish and the noodles are slurplicious good.
The broth of the Koay Teow Th'ng was really delicious... clean tasting yet, packed with robust flavors. They did not skimp on the toppings either... minced meat, fish balls and fish cakes were generously added, topped with a spoonful of lards and scallion oil. Something that I would not mind to have on a regular basis.
We started our meal with a famous Hakka dish- Hakka Abacus, something like Yam Gnocchi... starchy and chewy. Lao Hakka's rendition was with a generous amount of dried Squid, minced Meat, dried Shitake Mushrooms, Coriander and Spring Onions. Flavor-combo was intimating but everything was precisely measured. We like the fact that the condiments possessed the right smoky fragrance to impart the Abacus an irresistible flavors
For meat lovers, there is smoked duck stew and the lamb shoulder korma. These two dishes stewed with plenty of spices are served with cucumber raita, a cooling accompaniment prepared with charred Japanese cucumber, mint, and yogurt.
The F&B scene in Penang does not sound like it will be slowing down for the new year of 2017, there are quite a number of new restaurants to put on radar. Foodies may have noticed this eye-catchy building at the corner of Hutton Lane, right next to New World Park. The exterior of the restaurant is painted in orange color, with a few bright spotlights in action. The name "Green Bell" surely does not ring a bell... at least not for us. Green Bell has quite an extensive menu, offering a vast selection of Western-Fusion dishes, though most of them are priced reasonably, the dishes lacked the excitement when it comes to quality... as though it was just an ordinary restaurant in the neighborhood. Food-aside, the service on our visit was lackluster; for a few simple orders, it took them more than one hour to serve and the restaurant was not even half-full.
Our breakfast reached. This is Kaya Butter Toast Very crunchy and delicious. I read somewhere they make their own Kaya. We also ordered 2 half boiled eggs for each of us. They are served in this cute cup instead of a bowl. Fresh and perfectly half boiled. Awesome taste when we dip the bread into the egg.
Kong Thai Lai uses its own home-made Kaya (Pandan scented Coconut Jam) on their Toast, together with a generous spread of Butter, the marriage between the two components was absolutely lovely; best washed down with a cup of Haianese Black Coffee and to go with some fresh Soft Boiled Eggs. Easy on the pocket, delicious in the mouth and filling in the tummy.
Kampung Nights, E & O Hotel RM198nett per adult, RM118nett per child/senior
Dining here is really nice, the environment is good and the food is tasty too. If you walk out from Sarkies, you can actually see the beautiful sea view just behind E&O hotel.
After a while of MCO, E & O Hotel is backed with the usual unlimited ala-carte and buffet lunch. This round a bit different is the add-in of dim sum series. For those that love to eat dim sum, you don’t need to go far. E & O Sarkies is serving the fresh and delightful dim sum. For my personal preference, I love the har gao (shrimp dumpling) here, where the shrimp inside is bouncy and fresh, the outer coat is thin and soft. It is one of the best in town.
Penang is famous for its Peranakan culture, particularly the well-known Baba Nyonya community. Established in 1933 as a kuih-specializing factory, Moh Teng Pheow Nyonya Koay expanded to include a storefront in 2016, showcasing a remarkable commitment to Nyonya kueh.
Moh Teng Pheow Nyonya Kuih has earned the prestigious Bib Gourmand status in the 2023 Michelin Guide KL and Penang list.
Moh Teng Pheow Nonya Koay was where we headed for our fix of Nonya Kuehs. Having visited Jason’s Nonya House and still craving for Nonya fare, we found Moh Teng Pheow Nonya Koay a popular venue for koahs such as Kueh Lapis, Kueh Talam and Kueh Bengka.
