My friend gave me a nice lunch treat - set lunch Nasi Lemak Chicken with Iced Lemon Tea - MYR 14.90++. I kept almost all the rice for another friend because I am cutting down on rice. This lemon tea is very special because it seems like they blended a lemon and mixed it with tea so the drink is frothy.
We also shared the Mee goreng Muthu (RM9.90), their version of the mee goreng mamak. Served piping hot, the fried yellow noodles was moist and full of flavour. Usually, the one we have at our local mamak only has tofu and vegetables, but this comes with prawns and sliced chicken too. An excellent plate of noodles!
Total price - MYR 37.40 nett inclusive of a takeaway fried chicken leg (MYR 7.70 nett - the fried chicken is very tasty).
Ng, who is also the head chef, said the most popular item on the menu and one he would recommend was the nasi lemak ayam berempah (nasi lemak with spicy fried chicken). “Nasi lemak is our signature dish and it is also a favourite among patrons, perhaps because it is a dish loved by all the races in the country,” he said. “All our food are guaranteed pork free.”According to Wong, the kopitiam in Jalan Balai Polis is the second branch, following the one in Oasis Damansara which was opened in 2013.
Reasons to visit: charming atmosphere; great spot to entertain out-of-town guests; Pork Pong Teh and you must order the Nyonya Laksa.
