As the guest chef responsible for the Japanese-Australian Epicurean Affair menu for the hotel’s #DinewithChef series (24 August to 3 September), Fong then proceeded to guide Harris on the sushi-making masterclass.
Thirty8 is famous for its incredible view, overseeing the city skyline of Kuala Lumpur and The twin towers, while sipping on your tea, hanging out with your friends or family, and have some dessert.
Overall, THIRTY8 offers one of the best views of the KL cityscape. However, we found the food to be hit-or-miss. In summary – come for the view, but temper your expectations for the food.
For the meat lovers, THIRTY8 offers Australian 'Diamantina' Red Wagyu or Black Angus Beef from Stanbroke Farms. We had the rib eye (350g, marbling score 6 - RM350), which was thoughtfully sliced for sharing. Beautifully tender, melt-in-the-mouth and flavorful meat, we certainly enjoyed this and went straight to steak heaven. So so good! I'm also eyeing the Tomahawk for my next visit, very reasonably priced at RM350 for 900g.

Taste:9/10(Delicious. We ordered beef burger, sushi platter and the signature dessert. All the food were good but special mention to the dessert. Sushi platter were fresh with 11 pieces of premium sushi including toro, horse mackerel, flounder and sea urchin. However, the sea urchin is a bitter type which is not from Japan).
Linzertorte, one of the must-have in this afternoon tea buffet. We don’t come across this often in KL, hence giving us extra reason to try an extra serving. Crumbly, nutty and jam-filled torte, traditionally with criss-cross design topping but getting a twist of appearance in High On Sugar.

Reasons to visit the High on Sugar, Afternoon Tea Buffet Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur: Beautiful view of KL and beyond; an elaborate buffet of pastries, cakes and other desserts; live cooking stations; a great selection of Ronnefeldt Teas; an a la carte menu that comes with the buffet; my top picks were the Black Angus Meatballs and the Fig Cheesecake; and remember, don’t miss the Ice Cream Sandwich!

You can enjoy the delicious lo bak kou which is simply addictive and the dim sum.
Reasons to visit: spectacular 360o skyline views, excellent martinis, White and Green Asparagus Ragout, Slow Cooked Australian Black Angus Beef Ribs, and don’t miss the Lavender Cheesecake!
Slow cooked Beef Short Ribs with crushed sweet potato and gremolata...apparently it's been slow cooked for 48 hours. The result of which is an exceedingly tender chunk of meat, falling off the bone but still retaining the beefy texture. One afterall does not want the meat to just dissolve in the mouth. RM105.
