5/10. Good ambience (and free WiFi - just ask the staff for the password), but I’m probably not coming back here for the food (or at least the breakfast/lunch/dinner). In my opinion, has many similarities to Mei (also considered a fairly healthy eating spot) and I just think that the quality - at a similar price point - is just much better at Mei. Probably the reason for the slightly harsher review, but a nice spot to have coffee (or at least it has the ambience for it)!
I went for the Hoisin Smoked Duck Rice Roll (RM16), which came in a generous portion with Japanese rice, tempura mushroom and onsen egg. Considering the price vs portion, it was pretty value for money! The duck had a sweet flavour which was closer to a teriyaki glaze, and the meat was tender but not gamey. Loved nibbling on the flavourful extra layer of duck fat on the top ! The tempura mushrooms weren’t greasy and gave the dish a crispy element. Egg was perfectly poached. All in all, a solid rice bowl.
There is a "cool look" to both the interior and exterior of Garage 51, with an mordernist and industrial deco, coupled with reburbished huge oil drums as seats at the entrance, plus the huge mural painting on the big wall outside; you can't miss it. And definitely serves up a good Latte!

As some of you already know (and are pretty addicted to it!), Mister Potato’s Purple Sweet Potato Crisps has been selling pretty well since its introduction in last year end. And the idea of incorporating this sweet potato crisp into the café’s menu has definitely caught my attention. So I am back to Garage51 to check this out! The Garage 51 and Mister Potato collaboration menu is available at Garage51 café from 1 March 2017 onwards, price ranging from RM17 to RM26.
Hubby and I went to Garage 51 for dinner last weekend. Actually, hubby planned to have dinner at Omaya but it was full house and it had a long queue, so we decided to change our dinner place and I suggested Garage 51 since it's just nearby, and also it's because I loved their food!
Reasons to visit: value for money meals and beverages; a crazy Nutella themed menu bound to linger in aficionados dreams for months to come.

Their menu features a selection of sweet dessert, western, sandwich items and pasta which is only available after 6pm onwards. It’s a nice place to chill with a slice of cake and coffee.

I love this sunshine-blessed cafe rendering an extremely nice set of photos. Food wise, there were hits and misses but their “Garage Messed Up Family” Series drinks looks extremely awesome which I really don’t mind to come back for 🙂
Part of “Garage Messed Up Family” Series drinks, The Father - RM18.90 Garage 51 introduced their “Garage Messed Up Family” Series drinks, which looks as awesome as they taste. I was told these drinks are a hit in Australia, and now that it has come to Malaysia, we get to taste it locally. Basically these are giant milk shakes, with lots of condiments thrown in, and they look super pretty in pictures.
Comments: To us, Garage 51 coffee is still our favourite compared to the rest of the items in their menu. Despite so, surprises from “Garage Messed Up Family” drinks deserves praises. Loud applause to the team’s patience in preparing every beautiful Messed Up drink (*we sit there for an hour looking at them doing the “sticking” and “pasting” continuously. We surely have no patience to do this) . It is a great drink for sweet tooth, best during scorching hot weather, and definitely good to take photos with. Can order for sharing, and it is quite a big glass with lots of ingredients like biscuits and popcorn in it.
Overall Rating: 5.5/10. Now, I've previously heard great things about this cafe. I'm not saying that you shouldn't visit this cafe, because with all honesty, two dishes gone wrong is merely a crack on the tip of an iceberg. I'm sure the rest of the menu would be much more plesant than the dishes I wrongly picked today. Perhaps I came with high expectations; Maybe it was better before. I walked out feeling disappointed - my awesome garage breakfast didn't feel that awesome after all.
An interesting coffee to try is the Mochatella, customers interaction is involved in the preparation of this beverage. It is served in a wooden serving board with in two separate components: a glass with few scoops of Nutella spreads at the bottom, topped with coffee freezed into ice cubes; and a jar of milk. You are then suppose to pour the milk into the Nutella-filled glass (amount depending on how diluted you want the Mochatella to be) and stir them up. The final result is, as what you are imagining right now, Nute-rrific ~
