I wasn't completely sure what Hainan fen was, which was precisely why I decided to give it a try at the newly renovated People's Park Food Centre (32 New Market Road #01-1100).
The duck did not have any crispy skin either. Apparently the third generation from Toh Kee, which closed on 1 Feb 2020 and is now revived by the grandson and ex head chef.
Meat was reasonably tender with full flavoured skin and some bits of fat.
This was nice. This was what we had been looking for with the brown sugar syrup with those ethereal bean curd.
Satay bee hoon must be one of the most difficult dishes to capture an appetizing photograph of, assuming that the sauce has been poured all over the top like this guy at People's Park did today (32 New Market Road #01-1016).
this stall (32 New Market #01-1044) was not the chuanbei liangpi front and center above, but instead the item in the corner: mala doufunao.
Satay bee hoon
I liked it so much that I ate it in less than a minute and immediately went back to get the other patty that she offered, featuring dong cai winter vegetables rather than the salted fish above. I liked them both, inhaling the second one in, uh, seconds too. Thumbs up!
