Found the quality of food generally above average, though some dishes were on the salty side. Some dishes are pricier than others depending on what you order, but still affordable. It goes to show that pork can just as brilliantly match with Indian cuisine as other meats, especially when it’s handled well like how MTP has done it.

Reasons to visit Meat the Porkers Plaza Damansara: lovely new setting with lots of natural light and views of the treetops; possibly the only Indian restaurant in Malaysia to serve pork; must-tries are The Porkers Naan, Tandoori Pork Ribs, Siew Yoke Biryani and the Goan Pork Vindaloo Mantou. Do allow room for a fruit lassi too.

I absolutely love the Fish Amritsari Tacos – seabass marinated in ginger, garlic, carom seeds and other spices and gram flour, lightly battered and then fried till crisp. A popular street food item in India, the fried fish is served on a tortilla, topped with tomato salsa and drizzled with a special sauce. Eat this immediately when served, before the tortilla gets soggy – the fried fish is insanely good!

Siew Yoke (Roast Pork) Hyderabad Dum Biryani, RM28 Siew Yoke biryani is steamed and served in a sealed bowl to lock in the moisture. It gave this spice-laden rice dish a smooth fluffy and retained all the aroma of herbs and spices. The thick chunks of roasted pork meat was well-infused in the biryani flavours and the crispy deep-fried pork skin served on the side, top it onto the rice just before eating it. Absolutely a brilliant dish.

Another gravy-based dish we had was the Butter Pork (RM30). Taste-wise, this was one of the dish we’ve tried in Meat the Porkers. The pork was cooked to perfection with roasted tomato, butter and spices which resulted in a thick and creamy texture. It was mildly spicy and just one sip of this amazing gravy was enough to tantalize our taste buds.

Tandoori Malai Pork Ribs (RM48) with cheese, cream, cashew nuts and spices. Tandoori Pork Ribs rank next and fans of these should check out Herukh’s latest version – it’s the luscious pale-looking Tandoori Malai Pork Ribs. The “paleness” of the ribs is from cheese, cream, spices and blended cashew nuts rubbed into the slab of meat. Slightly charred at the edges, the aroma from this slab of succulent ribs was just insane!

After a refit a in 2016, the restaurant formerly known as Fiercer than Fierce is now visually more welcoming and with the entry of pork as a draw factor, Meat the Porkers is even more so to be taken seriously when everything sings freshness and flavours. Prices are pegged slightly at the sharp end for a meal, but are totally worthy and even more admirable among pork lovers.

There is definately alot of buzz going on for this shop. Still located at Publika as the previous outlet used to be Fierce Curry House and now the new conversion to Meat the Porkers, which made them the first Porky Indian Restaurant. One of their dish that had won many Indian food lovers is one of their signature – Siew Yuk Briyani Rice. Yup. You got it right! Siew Yuk Briyani.

We enjoyed how Meat the Porkers aim to please us swine fans. It took a huge gamble and has gone where no man has been and the gamble certainly paid off. Meat the Porkers may be the first porky Indian restaurant to hit our shores but I am sure it won’t be for long before many will follow pursuit. Herukh plans to introduce other new dishes every 6 months so expect more porky delights like Pork Rib Biryani to come. When food is this good and made even better with swine, Meat the Porkers is a must-visit!!

Admit it; our city is awash in Indian restaurants, from the Chettinad cuisine to North Indian dishes and Banana leaf houses serving favourites of many such as Tandoori chicken, Biryani Rice, Chicken 65, Tikka Chicken and Naan bread, just to name a few. So imagine the raised eyebrows with jaw-dropping when Meat The Porkers - materialised on a piece of KL prime real estate at Publika in late November 2016, boldly proclaiming itself as "The First of its Kind in the World" - A Non-Halal Indian restaurant in Malaysia offering delicious and authentic Mughal cuisine with everyone's favourite "other" white meat - Pork!
