What do We Like about Shokudo Curry House? -The Japanese curry satisfied our craving -The special black curry, though it can be spicier
Hirekatsu Curry Rice (MYR 18) Breaded deep fried pork loin cutlet which is of leaner meat, hence perfect choice for me! (=
Our friend enjoyed her Tori Tsukune Curry Udon (chicken meatballs with curry udon). The meatballs have a similar texture to Ikea’s meatballs while the curry is less thicker than ours and slightly citrus-y – which definitely work better as a soupy udon dish. This place has been here for many years, and now we know why. Probably one of the better Japanese curry rice in PJ.
Just another weekend lunch at our favorite restaurant and cafe. Food was ok at Shokudo, but coffee at One Half is to die for! They are the House of Malaysia ...
Kaarage Curry Ramen, 22 ringgit If you fancy the noodle version of Japanese Curry, then you’d enjoy this dish as much as I did. You would also be able to taste the different versions of Japanese curry Shokudo has to offer. While both are curries, the taste of the rice gravy and the noodles gravy were distinctly different. I liked both but between the two gravies though, I prefer the former. Both are thick but where the rice gravy is buttery and creamy, the Ramen gravy was a lil soupy, which worked well considering noodles were involved. The ramen + chicken kaarage + the curry, it was a yummy combination. Not too filling, just the right amount and taste to keep you satisfied.
The lady boss recommended 凉拌拉面 Hiyashi Chuka Ramen, 炸鸡咖喱拉面 Karaage Curruy Ramen, 香炒牛肉片咖喱饭 Gyu Yakiniku Curry Rice for my future visits!
In order to get the most value out of it, we ordered a Tonkatsu Curry Rice Set RM26.00 which comes with an extra salad, soup and Ocha (free flow green tea). Shokudo Signature Curry Rice is served with Steamed Rice, Tonkatsu (fried pork cutlet), Curry Broth and Pickles which gives us a very good home run impression just by seeing it (exactly like the one we used to have in Japan). Succulent Fried Pork Cutlet have a crisp outer layer and tastes scrumptious while digging in with steamed rice and curry broth (a lot different flavour ongoing during the chew-chew session which is hard to describe but undoubtedly is a perfect curry dish which is worth to die for).
Simple and Great tasting of Japanese food with affordable price Non-halal
Comments: Friendly service, delicious Japanese curry rice with pocket-friendly price. Shokudo deep fried item is good too, crispy but not oily. Parking is quite OK on weekend afternoon. Highly recommended.
After trying a few dishes, my favorite has to be their prawn curry rice. The seafood tasted fresh, juicy, and goes very well with creamy flavorful Japanese curry. The pork fillet is pretty decent, though I’d recommend Tonkatsu by Mai Mason over this version any day. That being said, Shokudo is a pretty fine place for Japanese curry rice for any fan of this dish.
