Satay celup is a unique food experience that can only be found in Melaka. It involves dipping a skewered food of your choice into this boiling hot pot of spicy peanut sauce right in the center of the table. And today we’ll be visiting one of the most famous spots in Melaka for Satay Celup called Ban Lee Siang.
*The few must-have ingredients based on our experience: brown squid, fried tofu skin, kangkung, pork ball, bacon slice, and quail eggs.
Tips from 食 La Vie; parking will be an issue during peak hour so be patient in finding one. Do not visit this restaurant if you are someone who is very concerned of hygiene issue. If you are someone who favor satay, we have a post of Kajang’s satay here.
The place is very popular with locals, especially with the office crowd. Try to avoid peak hours. Baby chairs are available.

Is the Famous Putu Piring Tengkera Melaka worth the visit? It is definitely must visit and must try. Go early to avoid the long queue and RM 1.30 is worth it as you pay for quality food. The over 30 years old Putu Piring is well up to their reputation.
The Famous Putu Piring Melaka Jalan Tengkera
We had tried most of those Nyonya Kuih offered in Baba Charlie and honestly, it never fails to continuously astound in every aspect, just truly a pleasure while enjoying each one of them especially for ondeh-ondeh, Rempah Udang, Kuih Abu Sagu, and Pulut Seri Kaya, arghh still keep craving for more up till date.
Baba Charlie is an icon of Melaka that has been churning out delicious Peranakan / Nyonya kuihs since 1988. Although located further from the main city, it ...
We got a packet of the onde-onde (RM5.30 for 10 pieces)- this was our favourite of the lot as the balls were soft and bursting with gula melaka
Selamat mencuba !
Well, belum cuba belum tahu.
The dog cafe I visited at Melaka was six kilometers away from our hotel and me being me; I searched around the area for food so that I technically wouldn't waste the trip.
Most memorable meal during this trip. Chicken satay is juicy, and pork satay is crispy. Love the pineapple sauce. Recommended. 30 minutes queue.
I have always enjoyed every visit to Hai Heng and it will probably stay that way.
Deluxe room comes with a Queen bed and a Super Single bed, which is perfect for my family of 3. Special highlights of the room also includes balcony and bath tub, both perfect for us since we love to enjoy the city view and a good soak in the tub.
The bathroom was spacious enough, which even had a bath tub for us to soak in. The bath tub is cool, as can be attested by the two boys. They immediately wanted to jump into the bath tub for a good soaking.
So, if you are looking for a comfortable and affordable boutique hotel to stay in Melaka, Kings Green Hotel is a good choice. It’s in a convenient location, just about 10-15 minutes’ drive to most of the popular places in Melaka.

There are alot of other side dishes in store too like fried sausages and curries and our stomachs were already filled at the time.
Ah Ho’s sambal strikes a good balance; enough heat for chilli lovers but still tongue-friendly to diners with low tolerance of spice. I personally love my sambal fiery but I enjoyed Ah Ho’s sambal nonetheless.
The room looked new and clean. Furthermore the interior is nice and modern. I like the color combinations too. Premier Room sized 29 m²/312 ft² with 1 single bed and 1 queen bed.

The wan tan noodles are still amazing.

Your visit to Melaka is never complete if you did not take the 45 minutes cruise down the historic 9km long Melaka river (‘where all begins’) …
Luckily, there are plenty of halal chicken rice options in Melaka and many of them are as good as the non halal versions, albeit different in taste and style. Besides Nasi Ayam Baba, Nasi Ayam Bonda is our other recommendation for delicious halal chicken rice.
Chicken Buah Keluak (RM45.00). The keluak paste is rich, creamy with an intense smoky and earthy flavor. The curry chicken was beautifully thick and enriched with loads of spices and herbs. The Buah Keluak provided a distinctive yet not too overpowering nutty taste to the curry.
Melaka is full of interesting things and Roti Terbang is one of it. Although there are quite a number of roti canai sellers in Malaysia who can perform this feat, Mezan of Roti Canai Kampung Enam is probably the most energetic of all. Check out the video above I made.

As simple as it looks, it’s actually tasty and comforting to eat on a day when you just want something simple. There are plenty of places you can get duck noodle but Soon Yen coffee shop is a good start for a promising experience.
Kedai Kopi & Makanan Soon Yen is a hawkers centre selling local Melaka and Malaysia food such as Nyonya Laksa. Its duck noodle stall is also popular here.
When I was doing my foundation programme in MMU (Bukit Beruang), roti canai was our favorite go-to food. It’s cheap, can be ordered in various ways and more importantly, hard to go wrong especially when you’re in Melaka. I am not sure if my favorite stall is still around because it has been 10 years since I last ate there. But here’s one good enough to recommend and it’s called Gerai Roti Canai Yusman.
Yusman’s roti canai stall is located in Kampung Limbongan which is just another 2 minutes drive away from Tengkera road. Their roti kosong is RM1/pc and come...
We enjoyed the majority of the food, though I suspect I might struggle to find new dishes there if we were to return. But for a group, particularly a large one, it’s a decent addition to the Melaka dining scene. Make sure you stress in the invitation that you are going to the hawker centre, not the restaurant, or people might turn up very overdressed!
Restoran Wong Soh Siew is one place I recommend non-Malaccans to visit, especially if they want to try something off the radar.
Old Town Chicken Rice Ball at Taman Malim Jaya isn’t new, in fact was made popular by tourists. Cleverly putting together every popular dish that represents Melaka under one roof, there is my all time favourite chicken rice ball, and the Taiwan pork chop noodles I’ve been eating for the past 20 years or so; all of that at one spot.
