I didn't know what kuih Lopez is until I ate it. Instead of sago, it just uses glutinous rice.
Lunch for two pax at Upeh, Midvalley Mall. Our favourite Basil Fried Rice since 2014 when Upeh is still Belanga. The price is about the same since 2014 which is MYR 18.974 nett inclusive of 6% SST.
Previously I showed the Nasi Tumpang as a whole without breaking the rice cone up. Now I break up the prawn nasi tumpang (MYR 10 nett) to show the kerisik (toasted grated coconut) and a prawn. The rice is just as soft as before which I like.
Roti Jala is one of my favourite dish. This dish of Roti Jala (4 rolls) with curry chicken costs MYR 9.90+ (6% GST so it is MYR 10.50 nett) at Upeh. There is only 1 piece of chicken but the 4 rolls of Roti Jala are very thick and I was so full when I finished eating them. They taste good and soft but I would prefer them to be thinner like this one here.
One of our regular eatery - Upeh at the Gardens Mall. Nasi Kerabu Hitam Ayam (Raw vege blue rice with chicken - blue from the butterfly pea flower) at MYR 23.10 nett. The beansprouts are totally raw and it goes well with the flavourful condiments on top of the rice. Ginger Honey Hot drink at MYR 6.25 nett.
Ice Teller at MYR 14.50++ (10% service charge and 6% GST = MYR 16.90 nett) from Upeh eatery at Midvalley Mall
Cucur Udang (Prawn fritters) at MYR6.90+ (6% GST = MYR7.30 nett). As they have been cut up, I have not sure how many pieces of whole prawn fritters are on this tray.
Upeh takes over the spot previously occupied by Belanga Cafe in The Gardens Mall. Upon inspection of their menu, we noticed that the items served were similar (serving authentic Malay cuisine), so perhaps it's just a rebranding exercise.
