I saw these balitongs (siput sudut) masak lemak (cooked with santan/coconut milk) and I sure enjoyed them so much when we were here for their buka puasa buffet around the end of May so of course, I could not resist asking for that…and also a helping of the prawns.

I loved that not very attractive looking fish – I did not know what they marinated it with but it was so very nice

Both my missus and my girl had their very nice vegetable curry…

Well, I had the Sarawak laksa (RM5.00)…On the whole, though it did not sweep me off my feet, I thought it was quite nice. In fact, in the first place I never got my hopes up high especially when considering that this culinary delight was of Chinese origin, in Kuching. In my growing up years, we could hardly find a stall here selling this but we can find many all over town nowadays and of course, whether it is nice or not is another story altogether. Likewise, it is available at many Malay stalls and shops now and they even have Malay/Muslim companies/factories making their own sambal for their use.

I also went for the nasi campur – the ikan bakar (grilled fish) looked so good I simply couldn’t resist…and of course, I had the liver and yes, I loved petai too!

I chose the sotong (squid) kerabu…Yes, it was very nice. I loved the cili sumbat, the stuffed chili…a lot. Elsewhere, they would just fill the chili with the filling but here, there is so much filling it was bursting out of it and I sure liked that

My missus had their seafood kway teow…which was very good, very very spicy even though she did not ask for it, but I thought it could have been a bit more substantial.

I had the nasi lemak special (RM6.00)…with one fried chicken drumstick… I remember the last time I had that, I asked for their ayam percik and they did not have a problem with that but I had to pay 5o sen more which was perfectly ok as the chicken was very nice.

We had the same thing again, their nasi kerabu with ayam percik, drumstick (RM6.50)…that we do like a lot and yes, as always, it was really good. I love the stuffed green chili…and I do think that the ayam percik…alone would be satisfying enough even if one had it with plain white rice.

I had this (RM5.80)… the sotong and the cempedak too and I had a slice of fish and half a salted egg, three meat and one vegetable. I thought that was reasonably-priced and above all, we really enjoyed our picks. In fact, the cempedak was so very nice that I just had to tapao some home for dinner.
