My girl wanted their murtabak daging (beef)…and yes, she enjoyed it very much except that for reasons unknown, it was so very big! She could not finish it all so she had it packed to be eaten later at her quarters.
I dropped by here last Sunday morning to buy their nasi biryani…with mutton curry for our lunch…and a tosai for my girl’s breakfast. When I wanted to pay for my purchases, the nice proprietor, Guna, said, in his own words, “in the spirit of Chinese New Year”, it would be on the house and he simply refused to accept any payment no matter how I insisted.
I also ordered the murtabak daging…with fresh beef filling as it did not occur to me at that point in time that my girl could not eat that – being made from wheat flour, it was not gluten free. I had to eat it by myself in the end and yes, it was really very good – the fresh beef and Bombay onion inside…made it come across like the fillings you find in those western beef pies…and it sure beat the ones with corned beef filling that one would find at most places here.
My girl, of course, wanted the gluten-free thosai (RM2.50)…and she was also given the curry gravy to eat it with but later, they brought the chutney and the dhal dips
Well, last Friday, I went and bought the nasi biryani…with fish curry (RM8.00 in total)…from here and she did enjoy it but she could barely manage half of it. Yes, I did think there was quite a lot, enough to be shared by two, plus coming back straight from class, one would be hot and tired and would not have an appetite to eat all that much.
We did have the slices of beef with our kampua mee… my missus and I. I forgot to tell them I wanted it white so we were served the black version, the one with dark soy sauce but it did not really matter as it was good. My missus was having it for the first time here and she was pleasantly surprised and sang its praises, especially considering that it was halal, no lard was used in the making.
I thought this was pineapple…but when I got down to eating it, I found that it wasn’t and I just could not tell what it was. In the end, I did ask them and it turned out to be unripe papaya. Hmmm…that was nice! I sure wouldn’t mind having a go at it again should I happen to see it here.
I went for their nasi campur too and I had their sambal telur (egg) and of course, I would not want to miss their very nice sambal petai (stink beans)…and that day, I decided to give their chicken liver…a try. Yes, it was very very good and I sure would want to have that again.
He also treated to his very lovely sambal petai udang (stink beans with prawns)…which, of course, we enjoyed to the max!
