Overall, the food here is just average.
As if the fast-food competition is not fierce enough, the South-Korean inspired joint- 3 Korean Fried Chicken joins in the war, opening a new outlet at the Pusat Perniagaan Maju Utama, Bukit Mertajam. Korean Fried Chicken and classic Korean delicacies (like Kim Chi, Tteokbokki, Korean Fried Rice) make up the menu. The serving portion is small but it commensurate with the wallet-friendly prices. While the dining space is welcoming, 3 Korean Fried Chicken does not come across as a place suitable for proper meals... more like inter-meal snacks or perhaps, light afternoon breaks. 3 Korean Fried Chicken can be found few doors away from CIMB Bank at Bukit Mertajam (near Sentosa).

It is vital to note that the restaurant does not use MSG in food preparation.
The Hidden T Rice Bowl had finely diced Smoked Duck Breast (drizzled with some sweet sauce), Scrambled Egg, Edamame and Lettuce. The flavor was straight-forward but the portion of the Rice over-killed the dish, not that we are complaining for the price but the proportion could be better improved
For mains, we had Cold Chili Oil Noodles and Drunken Chicken with Sesame Oil and Noodles; both were served in a small portion. The first choice was basically starch noodles so the texture was on the chewy side but the condiments were cleverly chosen. The flavor was spot on either.... spicy but not overly so yet, it comes with an addictive chili fragrance.
My personal favorite is Dua Sua Ka Japanese Curry Rice, the curry is not spicy and not too salty, the taste is just food with a lot of Chicken and serve with white rice.
Here's the location.
All in, we really enjoyed the food here despite the long waiting period. If you’re looking for a good lunch spot on mainland Penang, we won’t hesitate to recommend this place.
Satisfying meal at this famous BM yam rice. Freshly cooked yam rice on a charcoal stove served with a piping hot mixed pork.
They are famous for Yam Rice or we call it “or pui” serve with a mix bowl spare part of pork. Inclusive blood, intestine, pork balls, pork slices, pork kidney and others. Each bowl are made upon order and currently, you will have to wait at least 30 – 45 minutes for your order. It used to be only 10-15 minutes.
The traditional CUP rice is like nasi banjir. Drench in thick sauce and you can just eat it like that. I order Extra Meat @ RM 7.00 with mix meat. Find the taste is very interesting, salty, goie, some light fragrant of herb taste if I am right. Rice is soft and fluffy. A simple dish that makes up your quick lunch.
这次为大家介绍大山脚必吃的古早味-- 盖饭!!!
HO BIN CAFE 给面子 is a special unique restaurant which selling the home made noodle (pan mee type)....
The noodles were not as bouncy as we would have hoped, but they were definitely silky smooth; the classic version was very much Pan Mee-alike... with minced Meat topping and garnished with a soft-boiled runny Egg
主要卖的是自家制作的手擀面。价格也很平民化哟!
The soup was definitely a good one.
Tucked hidden but is widely known by many people here in Penang, Koji is a restaurant located at Bukit Mertajam Penang that serve food which leans more towards Japanese style food.
For Mains- Lemon Parmesan Chicken and Tiger Prawn on Risotto; the former one was served on a bed of creamy Mashed but with a hint of citrusy acidity. It was easy on the palate while the Chicken Breast was nicely cooked with a meaty texture.
Insadunia Foodcourt 点心城 is a very old-time food court that has been known by most of the Bukit Mertajam residents. As outsiders, we heard about this place but are not sure what is get there. Today, Ah Hong, a famous BM foodie introduced me to check out his all-time favorite Nibong Tebal Pork Noodle and also the Classic Hokkien Mee which are both so flavourful and delicious.

Kang Beef Koay Teow located near the big tree of Jalan Kulim, Bukit Mertajam has been around for many years. How many years exactly it has been around is unknown as the business here is too good until the boss is reluctant to talk to other people. However, the taste of the beef koay teow is very flavorful and appetizing. It is very refreshing and will make you go for more. The beef slices were very juicy and skin was tender.
Piping hot plate of dark and light soy sauce coated noodle served and not-fried-together duck egg is divine.
Medan Selera Taman Sentosa is one of the food courts that is packed with good food. All the food here is delicious. From the iconic bee tay bak, wan ran mee, CCB and chicken wing are all excellent and fail-proof. This place only operates during dinner time and each of the stalls will have its operating hours and off day.
It’s quite fulfilling for your tummy, so it’s a good idea to share.
