Mee Kahwin has tasted lightly sweet and sour with a strong peanut and galangal flavor, the broth is thick and smooth and it goes especially well with everything inside the serving plate – superb yummy and easily become a must-try in our list! 😉
This stall may be off the radar for some, but it is a bit of a local legend in this side of Malacca.
Once again, noodles take the spotlight. And once again, it is from the underrated noodle spot of Malacca. Some times I just do not ge...
This is the restaurant that I have been looking for, Restaurante San Pedro, which is the first ever Portuguese restaurant here, established since 1977
For RM78 for 4 persons – with freshly squeezed orange and lime as drinks, I gather it’s a pretty much satisfying meal. I guess this beats dining at the much more crowded and over commercialized restaurants facing the sea. So, the rule of the thumb – restaurants packed to the brim indicated good food do not apply here!
Ayam Purut (RM19) This is a must-order. The aromatic curry is delicious and rich while the chicken was cooked to the perfect doneness.

Seafood Boil was introduced to Malaysians a couple of years ago, but it’s too pricey to be enjoyed on a regular basis. Because of that, Seafood Lambak was created to match the budget of the average consumer.
Portuguese style baked fish RM55.00 First of all, the portion was quite generous and can be shared across 3-4 persons, tastes super scrumptious as the sauce is well blended with numerous spices yet astonishingly it is not spicy at all although it provides a mild hot sensation during the chew-chew session. Unlike many so-called Portuguese styles out there, De Lisbon’s version still able to remains moist of the fish in the wrapping which made the meal even more fascinating! 😉
Please do not go to Portuguese Settlement for "Portuguese" food. It's just a mixture of Nyonya, Chinese, well basically Malaysian taste with exorbitant prices. Also, the harassing crowd is pretty annoying and can be very scary. I would still like to try Melaka's Portuguese food, but definitely not here. Will do more research the next time I hit Melaka!
That's frustrating for someone who loves his crabs and I decided to make a trip down to the UNESCO Malaysian city, with the primary objective of checking out this particular restaurant that my sister, and brother in law, had been raving about; Restoran Tong Sheng!
We didn’t dislike any of the dishes, but we weren’t excited by any of them either. It’s good home-style cooking, but it’s not going to blow your socks off. Service was efficient and the food came fast.
Verdict: With so many good reviews I’ve read online (some even said this is the best choice when comes to Nyonya dining in Melaka), my dining experience certainly wouldn’t make it the best Nyonya restaurant in Melaka. Perhaps I’ve order the wrong dishes. Food was just decent but did not mind-blowing and I’ve had a better Nyonya meal elsewhere. (Read THIS)
This little Nyonya restaurant is located at Melakaraya area. We went pretty late, about 2pm-ish and yet the queue is still long! Nevertheless, the wait was not that long. We observed that the dishes come within 10 minutes after sitting down, so most of the dishes may have already been prepared way earlier.
Its a nice place and once again Thank You the owner for being so nice allowing us to chip in after his operating hours. I really favor nyonya food therefore my choice of selection is quite particular so may not be the best Nyonya food that I have tried but definitely is one of the famous in Malacca that you can tried some local taste with reasonable price. Rating: 6.8 /10
Finally here comes our long-awaited main dish, The Sambal Udang Petai RM19.00 featuring stir-fry prawn and bitter bean in hot sauce. The overall dish tastes rather spicy, has an irresistible sweet and sour flavor, a perfect dish that will make you enjoy another bowl of rice in no time! 😉

During beratur tu, korang dah boleh usha menu apa nak makan. Bayar lepas order kat depan tu jugak. Servis laju. Jangan risau eh? Kebetulan perut memang dok lapar ni. Here is my verdict, nasi ayam kepal ni rasanya biasa. By the way, ayam diperap lembut, and sup fish ball tu simple.
Overall semua not bad.Sedap pun sedap.Cuma umi tak rasa dia punya sup tu jelah.Kang order bebanyak tak habis pulak.
Kedai makannya senang nak cari, guna Waze aje.
We start off with a plate of water-boiled soft shell clam aka Lala RM3.00 which serves like 10-12 pieces of fresh clams on each plate. The clam flesh is big, tender, sweet and juicy, great enough to savor plain and it gives even more kicks (flavourful and spicy) while dipping into the soy and chili sauce.
The first night, we decided check out the Longkang Siham, loosely translated as blood cockles by the drain. This is a back alley that is famous for cheap and fresh seafood, where patrons sit on tin…
However I find that the quality of this shop, the taste had changed. I felt that year 2018 and before, it taste much better. The fragrant of peanut, spices and others are more prominent.
To our surprise, the Capitol satay sauce tastes gratifying and has a way thicker nutty blend compare to other satay celup which we tried before, not hard to understand why there are so many diners dying for their satay celup. Well too bad in our case, as it keeps gives us a chill in the spine on each bite worrying that we might get severe diarrhea on the next morning! 😉
As we ate, restaurant staff came over occasionally, to add more sauce or to stir the pot so that stuff didn’t stick to the bottom. The peanut sauce was fragrant, with a sweet and nutty flavour. I especially liked the bacon-wrapped enoki mushroom.
Beautiful place which serve nice food, and not crowded. Recommended.

A pretty interesting cafe. Food and coffee is alright.
Sin See Tai is a cafe, small batch coffee roastery and bakery in a hidden alley in Melaka. Sin See Tai delivers orders around Malaysia.
Reasons to visit Sin See Tai: excellent coffee made on their house-roasted beans; great sourdough; loved the granola, and the quinoa barley risotto; charming setting; friendly team.
I've been to Donald & Lily countless time, and they've never failed to disappoint me so far :) But again, taste is subjective. Try at your own risk!
Next up, we order a signature Peranakan dish called Nasi Ayam Pongtay RM11.00 featuring blue rice (pea flower) serves with mixed vegetables and a bowl of braised chicken. The blue rice is warm and fragrant, mixed vegetables deems to be quite salty where we only manage to taste the “Kicap” (soy sauce) flavor, while Ayam Pongtay for us is a pure disaster, although chicken is braised to perfection yet the taste is super-duper salty, tongue feels numb right after sipping onto the Pongtay Kuah (highly suspects is an overnights cooking result), can’t even proceed after the first scoop so we decide to raise white flag and leave it there as per it is, seriously feel like “Ketuk” the chef with a ladle and ask them dah bangun ke belum?! 😉

The coverage of their menu as well as the batik table cloth still feel familiar to me from the last visit. Groups of customers came strolling into the Restaurant after we settled down.
A humble-looking eatery. It is located among shop houses right by the main road. The chef here is super awesome. Dishes here are incredibly delicious.
Squids Fried with Stink Beans & Sambal - known as petai, the stink beans are an acquired taste which intensifies as you chew them further! Personally, i quite enjoyed the petai although the bigger highlight was the nicely cooked squid that's fried with the aromatic sambal chilli!
Bulldog’s food then doesn’t quite live up to the hype (except their cendol). I’m perhaps spoiled in that my wife and in-laws cook nyonya food very well, including doing vegetarian versions for me, so you might find it more exciting a culinary experience.
Reasons to visit Bulldog Malacca: cool, clean and contemporary setting; an excellent introduction to Nyonya cuisine; must must must order the Lamb Shank Keluak and Cendol.

Pancakes, croissants and more!
I love the interior! Bila pindah rumah nanti, memang nk ada elemen pokok pokok ni. (Eh lupa lah ada anak kecik, hihihi) It reminds me on an organic cafe I pergi di Seminyak, Bali.
French Toast with Teh Tarik Sauce RM18 French Toast with Teh Tarik Sauce – Like a dessert like a brunch. Lol. Lightly crisp outside, fluffy soft inside egg-coated French toast, topped with strawberry, teh tarik crumble and a scoop of ice cream. Glaze it with Sharing Plates home made teh tarik sauce!
For main course in this RM148++ set menu, diners can choose from Grilled Beef with Mushroom Simmered in Masala Wine, Sole Fillet with Lemon White Wine Sauce and Baked Chicken Breast with Basil Tomato Sauce and Parmigiana. We picked for the first two, seeing that Summerkid loves beef dishes while Summergirl always prefers seafood choice.
