This is arguably one of the best Char Kway Teow and it's really a classic. The uncle has been plying his trade for decades with more of the time being a one-man show. I won't say it's the best but it's definitely one of the better ones in this trade.
The fact that Uncle fries every single plate and packet on their own, the consistency is a little different plate to plate and packet to packet. The basic wok hei ( heat of the wok) is definitely still good in the noodles giving it a nice charred aroma.
The uncle was methodical, frying each plate one by one. His stall was really clean and neat too. But the queue seemed to have grown from when I remembered it. I think I waited for 30 to 40 minutes.
Very solid savoury-salty stock, with a good smokiness, layering of flavours and a prominent dried sole fish accent. The mee hoon kway was chewy and biteable, and the meat and meat and prawn balls were fresh, flavourful, bouncy and soft. Very nice.
Overall, the noodles served at Jiak Song is pretty decent and I would not mind queuing if the wait is not too long. They have done well in terms of making the soup base but the soup is not the best I have tried. If you like a lighter version of the ban mian, you would probably love Jiak Song’s version.
To me, good food is always worth the wait, and that would be the case for Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway.

Cantonese Porridge and their Boneless Chicken Wing is a must try.
But I have to tell you, their porridge is so creamy and fragrant with a dash of sesame oil!
Wow. One of the longest queues at this food centre here. The fishballs had a great fish flavour, and a mouthfeel that was bouncy and slightly textured at the same time, almost like eating real fish.
Song Heng Fishball Noodle is worth queuing for.
Old school Western Food that is worth your calories if you want some nostalgic feel.
The style and presentation of the Western food gave me a nostalgic feel and definitely one of the stalls I will revisit if I'm looking for Western Food with fried bun.
One of the nicer wa kueh I have tried, reminiscent of the childhood flavours of the Commonwealth Close wa kueh sold by the roving hawker.
Gems Harvest is a pretty good breakfast haunt, especially for folks who enjoy old-school breakfast items.
With flavours that are well thought out and with an eye for detail to create their very own character in the competitive F&B scene in Singapore, Lickers is certainly somewhere to visit.
Guan Seng Carrot Cake might not be the best carrot cake I’ve ever had, but I think it’s worth a go if you’re in the area!
Overall it is a good plate of soy sauce chicken noodle.
This simple yet unpretentious bowl of porridge certainly punches its weigh.
Overall I think the fish ball noodles here is good but not outstanding. The note worthy is the stall still handmade their own fish balls which is quite rare nowadays with factory readily available.
Uncle Lee’s Hong Kong Noodle & Rice closes rather early, at 2pm, so do come before that to get your plate!
Overall, I have eaten at Ah Orh at least 3 to 4 times over the years and I do notice that in my recent visit, the standard of the dishes is not on par with previous years.
Ah Orh Teochew Food Delivery / Takeaway
Very fat, creamy, salty and fresh oysters, on top of a fragrant and unoily egg omelette.
Alkaff Mansion, top restaurant in Singapore, great food, in a great location, with great staff you really can’t go wrong - Beefsteak & Burgundy!
17 reviews of Alkaff Mansion Ristorante "I would do 3.5, but it's closer to a 4 than a 3. average-ly italiano at this quite gorgeous venue hidden up in telok blangah. it's a surprising location, until you realize it's situated in a quite…
A worthy place to be at if you have a special reason to be there.
In bustling Singapore, Fuel Plus+ cafe on Morse Road is a great option for those seeking a cosy cafe off the beaten path. Its interesting and diverse menu and its tranquil location at the foot of Mt Faber sets it apart from the many other good cafes in Singapore.
You definitely do not get to see this rare scene in the urban streets of Singapore.
Overall, food has been slightly above expectation and by looking at other tables orders, i'm kind of convinced that we have to make additional trip back to try other interesting bites, desserts as well as the Mains.

By Chef Pang Kok Keong. Oily and fragrant, nicely cooked chewy noodles and umami meat filled yong tau foo.
Very soon, you will be able to enjoy grilled seafood at night as Hakka Pang will switch to a ‘seafood shack’ concept called Guppies. Expect a variety of grilled fish and seafood served with different dips.

A food blog from a Singapore-based traveler
Although we finally get to it here, we did not have enough stomach for other items on the menu. I will like to try out more of their recommended dishes on the menu. Let's make a return trip soon!
Makko Teck Neo is definitely a hidden gem located in a sleepy old neighbourhood.
Overall, we are glad that Makko Teck Neo Metropolis has opened. A good Peranakan restaurant is always welcome in the Buona Vista / Ghim Moh neighbourhood.
Apart from the flavorful broth, the noodles themselves are a testament to No. 25's culinary expertise. They were perfectly cooked, retaining just the right amount of bite. The sauce that enveloped them was a harmonious blend of the broth's essence, vinegar for a touch of tanginess, soy sauce for depth, and lard for an indulgent richness. This combination resulted in a symphony of savory flavors that left me craving for more.
The pork slices and pork liver in the soup were quite meagre although well cooked and fresh, but the her keow was gummy and flavourful and the fish maw added variation. The noodles was good too, cooked just nice, and flavourful with nicely crispy pork lard and tee poh. Something I will come back specially for.
What sets No. 25 Minced Meat Noodles is the tantalising bowl of soup. Cooked for almost 10 hours, the soup could be a dish on its own!
