Ginger Steamed Lala was damn delicious, it has a rich flavour and super fresh. Seriously, loved it. Ginger Steamed Lala @ RM 15
Clay pot Flower Crab soup - RM 65.00
Hai Boey Seafood (海尾海鲜) at Teluk Kumbar is one of the more popular seafood restaurants in Penang.
Overall the food at Hao You Teluk Kumbar Seafood is decent and not as good as it is hyped by Youtubers or things that I read on Google Review. Maybe our expectations are too high due to the high reviews by Youtubers and Google Reviewers.
If you are here, there’s no reason not to try both Mee Kuah and Mee Goreng. I would suggest ordering a Mee Seafood (with kuah) @ RM20 and Mee Udang Goreng @ RM10. The one with gravy has a spicy kick while the goreng version tastes slightly sweet, they are equally delicious.
Teluk Kumbar is often the de-facto place (on Penang island) to go to when it comes to Mee Udang, the fishing village is known for supplying the freshest catch in Penang. Pak Tam is not exactly the most famous joint but rather, well-hidden and secluded at a corner of Teluk Kumbar. The secret fishing spot is famous amongst anglers, it does take some navigating skills to reach there. On your way in, you will find untouched natural scenery and run-down village houses. The road can be bumpy so be prepared for an intense journey. There's a fresh water pond (man-made I presumed) and within a stone's throw distance away, there's a beach with clean, seemingly unpolluted waters. Pak Tam Mee Udang is a humble, unpretentious stall operating at the beach front. Like the name implies, it churns out Mee Udang. Diners get to choose between a few types of Noodles and the preferred Seafood choices (or opt out seafood). This may not be exactly the best Mee Udang around but the entire package (serene neighborhood with soothing sea breeze) is a rare encounter in a well-developed city.
Ta'at Cafe is one of the well-known classic Cafes serving great Malay dishes. This shop has been up and running for 60 years. The highlight here is the bawang Ayam (onion chicken), the curry fish, and curry prawns. These are the dishes that are not to be missed when ordering. Those that took the dishes here 10 years ago claim that the taste of the food remains its standard after a decade.
mi is one of few Japanese restaurants in Penang that are directly operated by hotels.
Umi presents a family-friendly dining atmosphere with a charming touch of wood.
Here's the location.
Dozo Bayan Lepas - Perfect Place for Lunch at Bayan Lepas area.
Overall, environment here is very comfortable and service is good. Food serving portion is big too.

There are a lot of different food from their menu, i try different food every time i am here and still enjoy all the food that i order so far.
One of the inspiring dish is Croissant Thailandese Chicken, a fusion dish featuring homemade lobak (meat rolls) sandwiched by croissant and dressed with unique Thai sauce that gives a balanced sweet and spicy filling. If you prefer a less spicy variant, try their Black Pepper Chicken instead.
Steamed Red Snapper with Cantonese Style The red snapper was fresh and it blended well with the top grade soy sauce that made this dish simply excellent.
We thoroughly enjoyed the meal! This was truly a great first stop on Penang island.
Nevertheless, the Nasi Dalcha here is really awesome, in particularly its rich gravy. It packs a thick creamy sensation, probably due to lots of coconut being used to make the curry, which makes it goes well with the rice. Fried chicken is essentially good too. Memang sempoi laaaa....
The dishes were served in out of order: Blueberry Pie, Grilled Chicken and Wild Porcini Mushroom. It should have been Soup, Main and lastly Dessert. To make it worse, I ordered a glass of warm water. They didn't even serve me that even though the restaurant wasn't busy and I was charged for the glass of water. My fault too for not checking before paying :(
The environment here is comfortable and looks like a fine dining restaurant but there are not many seating place inside Teszta Resto.
Nothing spectacular on the toppings but the braised Beef was a winning glory. The meat was beautifully cooked with flavors and addictive meaty texture.
The Salmon Kabuto Shioyaki is another dish which capture my attention. The delicious salmon delights where the salmon is perfectly grilled with salt. The hint of light saltiness combined with the light char taste is just so good that I am totally in love with it.
Sushi Ya (寿司屋) is a new chain of Japanese restaurants in Penang and Kedah.
One last bowl of noodles before I get to the Penang Airport. Right off the roadside a nice place to chow down. Choose your ingredients and noodles. Fried Fish, Fishballs and Veggies.
Simple food which are favorite for locals here in Penang.

Serving unique butter coffee for almost a century, Bee Ghah coffee shop is still up and running. Passing down to the 2nd generation. Mr. Teoh owner is the last person that takes over the baton. No person will be taking over this shop after this. This classic and nostalgic place that served simple and nice breakfast also served delicious Nasi campur for morning and evening. The toasted "Bengali" bread with kaya and butter served to dip into the butter coffee to eat is one of Penang's ways of eating breakfast. I sincerely hope this shop will have another generation that keeps this lifestyle going.
So, the next time you’re looking for a hidden gem to explore in Penang, make your way over to Bee Ghah Kopitiam. Maybe when you have a sip of the Kopi Butter, you’ll never look at ordinary coffee the same way ever again.
One of the dish that the restaurant sings proud is Claypot Biryani, which is cooked using Basmati rice and concoction of 18 different spices. Served warm in the pot, the rice is soft and fluffy in texture, plus with perfect execution that each rice grains are well separated. Its distinct aroma can be scented inches away, triggering the drooling of saliva if you are seated close to the kitchen.
